engine rebuilding

ok well my car has died on me and im pretty sure its crankwalk.. what i am trying to find out is weather its worth fixing it while keeping the 7 bolt or i get a vr4 short block and put everything from the car onto that or is thats not posible? im new to this so abit of help would be great..

You can use the EVO cylinder head and manifolds on a VR4 block but you need to modify a couple of things - do a search and you'll find this has been covered.

How do you know it's crankwalk?

in not 100% but the sound its making and the loss of clutch pressure is what makes me think it is..

its pretty common on a 7 bolt motor.

Hmmm, isnt it illegal to put an engine that predates the car in Vic for road use?

I know its not the whole engine, but isnt the engine number stamped on the block? I always wondered this with all the GSR's running around with VR4 engine. Anyone shed some light on this?
