the mrs cooked the galant... she didnt get to the point of seizing it but at the very least the head gasket is gone... anyway.. i have a 63 import with a cyclone inlet mani that was earmarked for a cordia project which i am going to put in to get it mobile again... just curious... other than swapping the eci multi manifold on and geting an external oil cooler is there anything else that needs to be done??

cheers Jamie

oh man ive just done it..
you mean galant gsr?
if so everything bolts up but make sure you have everything there, loom wise if you aint a wizz with electronics then get someone to do that.
also try get your hands on the vr4 passenger side driveshaft otherwise torque steer will be her best friend, also id keep the cyclone mani as its better for the turbo engine isnt it?
good luck

the aspec pooter cant controll the butterflies in the cyclone though if i remember corectly... or do i just attach it to a vac source so both runners are open?

eventually if the block of the cooked one isnt farnargled i will put a stroker in it and do silly silly things... so i'm not planing on doing anything other than running slightly upped boost atm (was on 16psi prior to being cooked)

i thought all vr4s were cyclone?
musnt be..
isnt eci multi just ggsrs and some us dsms and shiz.
im pretty sure vr4's are stock cyclone?
but ye not sure either :)

aspec vr4's had the ECI multi manifold aswell, better for airflow up top, but not as good for torque down low

ah so jamie the mrs drives the vr4.. and you got alotta cordias..
back to your question, yeah pretty much plug n play, if you're just gonna get it mobile again.

A few sensors will need to be changed over, ignitors, TPS, CAS and ISC are different plugs between Aus and Jap.

Pretty much change intake, as ignitors, TPS and ISC are all on it, and change the CAS to your Aus one with the plug on top (as opposed to lead and plug of jap)

i had the same thing happen to mine weeks after buying it. It definatly didnt have anything to do with my driving

took mine to a local performance shop (bad idea, very nieve) anyway, he turned my lovely new jspec motor into an abortion under the bonnet...$$ later...its now at afas continuing its repair process and still $$ later :D

bugger... ive had this one about six months... bought it with a "blown clutch" turnd out gearbox was sick aswell.. since then it has been running like a dream... done well over 10,000 k's and it hasnt missed a beat...

GL getting yours mobile.. they are fun cars to drive :)

i thought i would do the right thing and test the " good engine" before i put it in so i bought a leakdown tester... the results aint the best... but i figure that the engine has been sitting for a fair while and the bores would be quite dry and hopefully its leaking past the rings... so.. how much oil should i put down the plug hole to be confident that its lubed up the rings enuf to seal them if they are fine?

if the engine isnt healthy then i will prolly put the wheels back on and put it out of the way for a while as i'm getting married in 12 weeks then going OS for a few months...

comp tested the motor thats suposed to go in.. best i got was 30psi.. dont think there is much point putting it in any time soon

i bought me a new engine..

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...4976&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab=Watching

question is... since its set up running on a stinger pooter it would be much easier to move the whole lot across and then as i make furure mods its just a matter of re tuning?

if so whats the go with removing the galant ecu/wiring etc.. am i gonna be cursed with a check engine light all the time?

any pointers/ suggestions/ need to knows would be muchly apriciated

thanks in advance

J

whats with the turbo straight to throttle body?
man that air would be hot?
you gunna intercool it?
Whats the deals with no intercooler.?

was a back yard conversion and i dont think they could be bothered fitting a cooler... my vr4 already has a biggie so thats covered when it goes into it.. they had left plenty of room near the brake master cylinder area.. mebbe they were going to put a water to air cooler there instead of a front mount but never got it done

the motor seems in good nick (which is what i bought the car for).. i will probably stick a cordia motor back in it as i have one in the shed.. get it regoed and then mebbe fix the fugged vr4 motor and put it back in properly.. that way i dont have to stress about getting it engineered...

anyway.. back on topic

cheers Jamie
