Okay, so theres been quite a lot of talk round the forums lately about genuine vs reshell vs rebuilt vs factory genuine vs..... early evo's.
Now I'm looking into another opportunity at the moment, and whilst I don't need to sell this car (or really want to) to finance it, if I do make the purchase it will basically make my current car surplus to me and will just sit about in a shed, and slowly be restored to concourse. So if it would actually be used by someone, I might as well sell.
Alright, so to the car. It is what I consider to be the only way to know for sure you are getting a factory built early evo- ie it is a yellow plated personal import. This is my opinion, I know others will disagree, but I don't want this thread filled up that arguement. In fact, please keep replies to a minimum. GENUINE BUYERS ONLY. This is being posted on a number of forums so please email me at [email protected] or expect a wait for a reply.
It was imported in Nov 2003 by (I believe) a doctor who has places in both Sydney and Mayalasia. I purchased the car in March 2005 from WA via Sydney and have all the import documents. It is a silver 1994 Lancer Evolution II GSR. Besides all the factory stuff, a quick summary of additional work
Plus other stuff I've probably forgotten.
Car is in good overall condition however there a some minor things such as the black uprights on the doors being faded, stone chips on the front, old sticker marks on the bonnet, etc. Also car has had a minor hit in the rear quarter. Will be fixed and addtionally have brand new rear bar, lower lip, and drivers side innner guard (just waiting on parts from Japan).
All new parts brought off Steve Bell with no problems as the VIN links to an Evo, unlike reshelled cars which link to the car that was reshelled. As as Mitsubishi often require a VIN for parts, a reshelled car COULD leave you with problems?
With everything $28000, but some parts may be removed (as can be used on the new car: wheels, ECU, HKS stuff) and price adjusted accordingly. Car is in Hobart, Tasmania.
No test drives for under 25's, others will be required to pay an insurance deposit (refundable on safe return). This is a rare chance to pick up a yellow plated evo.
Yes its expensive, yes you could get a gsr with evo engine and more mods for less. Thats not the point. This is for people that want a part of rally history, and unlike modded cars, this will go up in value as the years pass.
