Hi all, was hoping somebody any info on the oscillating crystal pictured? Mine has popped, I have googled the code on the top "160NDK2Y:" and taken it in to Jaycar but have had no luck identifying it. Any helps appreciated tia

Cheers for the offer, I got some on the way but will let you know otherwise

It is a fixed frequency resonator that clocks the the microprocessor (the square thing that reads the EPROM memory and tells the ECU what to do). 16MHz as opposed to the 2-3GHz that run a std laptop these days.

If your clock is fried, you likely have deeper issues as they're usually quite robust but for the price give it a crack I guess. I'd probably be looking for another ECU. How did you diagnose the faulty crystal? You need to chuck it on an oscilloscope. DMM won't accurately read that high.

Wow lol. Yeah the car seems to be running real wierd atm, I have a ECU lined up but like you said for the price its worth a go. Its leaked liquid over the board haha

Cyrstals don't have any liquid in them. The capacitor (blue cylinder) next to it has a small amount of electrolyte in it that may have leaked. It is common with our ECU's to do that. Maybe try replacing those instead? The guys at Jaycar should have those and be able to help you.

What's done to your GSR and where in Brissy are you?

Thanks man appreciate it, will PM you!

Ive got a 6 bolt wagon with evo bolt ons and thats it pretty much lol Im in Redcliffe where are you?
