You blow a headgasket?
2 much boost?

When i blew my radiator tanks about 2 months ago i didnt suspect that anything else let go. But after that day my car did overheat quickly.. an di thought might of been a thermo so i fixed that and it was fine.. so i was basically racing it every week.. and did a 12.09 with the head gasket leaking..

What we think is that i stretched the stock head bolts and which would cause the head to lift on boost and when the head lift it let coolant in. Upon removal and inspection this was the case and now im replacing the head bolts with ARP items and putting in another new cometic gasket.

Where's the RPM, can you take another picture showing RPM? What RPM is max power?

dont have RPM range sorry.. but i think max power for that day from this single run was around 6500rpm? he didnt take it to 7500rpm cos the car was bubbling the overflow due to head gasket.

Once i fix the head gasket problem.. ill do another tune and dyno run and hopefully we can see it at its full potential.

shit! thats at the wheels; from

Ok about 6500RPM. Seems like the power is rolling off there anyway. Anyhow I guess you can experiment with the cam timing to see what happens up top.

mark, remember that was with a fucked head gasket.. so yer.. be interesting to see how much power it has once its fixed..not bad for a big 16g.. does show that its pretty much spot on cos it has run 118.76mph back to back. Ill check with the guys at RE and see if they can tell me what RPM it was made at.

the mods on my car i did mostly myself.. so they didnt involve much labour but on things to do with suspension/bracing/timing etc.. my car gets looked after at AFAS in croydon.

 Sorry. IM in backward Townsville remember  :p

5th highest hoon place in QLD

Do you think the head bolts stretched because of the amount of boost?
Or due to thermal expansion and coping a hiding?

I didnt hink the head bolts would stretch like that..

A mate of mine from sydney owns the blue TRY01T rodeo. Some of you may have seen it at summernats. Anyway, after going through many sets of upgraded head studs he got a hold of some super dooper "unstrechable" rods from america, they even came with a guarantee that the company would replace them free if he could stretch them........It wasn't too long before they were being sent back too. I'm not sure if he has fixed it yet, cause i haven't spoke to im in a while, but he was always having problems keeping the head on hin rodeo. But 600HP at the wheels will do that to a car hehehehe

i think the head bolts stretched for 2 reasons.

a. reusing old head bolts
b. high boost

Jon

If you re-use them they gotta be measured and if theyre within tolerance then usually theyre fine to use,its only when its been torqued passed its proof loading does it plasticise..or permanently stretch, never to return,at this point its as good as fukd.

For the cost, and the hell of it,always use new ones i guess.
