evo 3 turbo

i was checking out some turbos on my friends evo 3. we got looking and what i found strange was that the turbo had the number 49178-01 0.
it was missing the two digits inbetween the 01--0. shouldnt it be 01470 or something for it to be a big 16g? it does have the big/small twin fins on the shaft so its definetaly a 16g. just dont know if its a big 16g. ive got him a bit stressed out now since we took a look so any help would be great. cheers.

Was probably just a mis-casting of the compressor housing.

The second last number is usually engraved in the compressor cover and can be hard to see.

Should be " 49178-01470" . The '47' isnt embossed, its engraved into the housing and is often hard to see without closer inspection.

ahhh sweet..yea we took a closer look and yea its still not a evo 3 turbo...the number is 01450. which turbo is that? evo 2?

Evo 1 Turbo. Bugger, if thats right it means you have the cast iron exhaust housing prone to cracks too.

oh its an evo 1 turbo? im pretty sure he'll be pissed off at that. i didnt know those manifolds cracked? its better off to get the GTpumps one anyway right? their suppose to be freeflowing and hp gains too?

you could get the gtpumps enhanced turbine housing... they won't crack and have a bigger wastegate.

the manifold is seperate, if its an e3 one it probably won't crack... the vr4 ones will though.

the gtpumps manifolds are great though, highly recommended :wink:
