has anyone put an evo 4 turbo on a cd5a gsr before? other than the usual mods for an evo 1-3 td05 would it just need a different manifold? is the hassle worth it or not?

the turbo will physically fit on a cd5a manifold problem is it would face the wrong way intake on passenger side. mounting it so the intake is on the drivers side would present clearance issues.

although an evo X turbo may just be the solution

if you want a car that has good response to throttle....makes reasonable power on an engine with stock internals. Get a 14B from a VR4. If you go bigger you will build in lag....yes you can tune for that but that motor is not that capable on stock rods of really good power.

evo 4 on turbos are twin scroll so wont bolt on to the stock maniflold of a gsr or evo 1-3

as above though heaps that do

The Evo X turbo isn't bolt on fitment either.

Sure, you can buy modified exhaust housings from the US that bolt up direct and can accept the Evo X cartridge, but as above, there's easier options out there.

td-05 16g.
As bmgtz pointed out, td05 from a vr4 is an awesome upgrade for the 1.8l. Not as much lag, but provide the top end that the td04 doesn't. Finding one in decent condition will be the issue.
New td-05 could be the better option. All you will need to do is port match your current exhaust manifold. Use the td-05 dumpm pipe, then modify your exhaust front pipe to suit slightly.
Could then look in to doing the evo plug in/bolt on upgrade to get you that power; being Evo 1-3 ECU (chipped to suit), AFM and injectors. Intercooler as well if you get one at the right price.

what i'm running on my 4g93 is the following

td05 16g evo 3
evo afm 609 labeled also found on magna
evo ecu
510cc injectors

this combo i found is quite good and running the full set of evo gear reduced the boost threshold to where it's almost as responsive as the stock sitting on around -4or 5 manifold pressure at cruise on the highway

assuming exhaust and front mount also? do you know how much you've got at the wheels?

22Xhp at the hubs; at 13psi. Note that my figure is fwd. 4wd will have additional loss of hp through the drivetrain.

my old gsr had the same setup,

td05 16g, evo injectors, maf and ecu. on 15psi with a 2.5" exhaust and i aws making 216hp at all 4 on a tired motor

also had the evo front mount aswell

if that helps.
