What caused the engine to go boom?
E85 + 25psi boost + 5th gear at 120km/h + rocker cover breather hose came off from inlet pipe between afm and turbo.
Last moment before boom I saw 13:1 afr :(
Evo 7 conrod failed.

And this is why we go Speed density. Oh well Mio onto better things. Lol
SD is good for that reason. I've just been too lazy to convert to it.
My original plan was to rip the internals out and do fully forged build but maybe it's better this way because I take my time to do everything to my likings.
Hopefully in couple weeks it will be back on the road. ☺

A bit of a hold up.
Just because i bought evo 8 block (not evo 7) I had to buy evo 8 water pump because it's different to evo 7. That wouldn't be any issue, I was gonna replace it anywise but due to that steel water pipe that runs at the back of block is also different as well as thermostat housing. Ok I got that, extra couple of hundreds of $$$.
Yesterday i was gonna install alternator but the blody bracket is different too.....
Hopefully nothing else show up along the way. :D :D :D

That's strange, I didn't have to do this to my balance shaft with my 2.3L stroker?
The only time it would hit was when the shaft was out of sync/180° out.
I will turn my motor to see if it would clear it without cuting when belt is on and timed correctly
I did this because of two reasons as well
To take a bit of weight out of balance shafts ( i cut the other shaft too)
In case that someone ever turn the oil pump 180 when replacing belts or if the belt fails it will never damage conrod caps

I had a look before I closed it. It's hard to say because I have the shaft machined but as far as I can see it would clear by couple of mm.

So back to build. I have engine finished. This weekend hopefully it goes back in. Fingers crossed :)

Run in over the weekend then Eastern Creek on Wednesday?
Cant wait!
Not yet mate. I may not even start it. I need oils in but I don't know if I can blead ayc.
My plan is to put it toghether this weekend and next weekend hook up all driveline and oils and start it.
I'll run it in with stock turbo and then I'll go GTP762 for it.
