Just wondering if I could just replace evo 7 jdm 180 km/h with evo 8 260 km/h cluster without any modifications?

Thanks

How come the speedo wouldnt be out? If it's a mechanically driven one then doesnt it need to be "calibrated" somehow? (I have no idea how the speedo's actually work..)

Im sure they are electronic and no cable. All the 3g stuff is electronic.
so there is a pulse generator at the gearbox and that is fed to the ecu and dash. The chip in the dash will tell the needle where to point.

Are there issues with the odometer? I imagine they are digital. Some are linked to the ecu so to stop fraudulent low mileage.
Eg, digital harley speedo cannot be used on another bike as the odo reading is locked to the ecu/speedo pairing. A new speedo has to be calibrated to the ecu.
I wouldnt think this would be the case pre evo10 at any case, but its worth researching before buying one

should be fine, just confirm with a GPS after swap.

I have switched over a few CT9a clusters to the Ralliart 300kph white clusters with no issues.. (260kph to 300kph)

They are electronic and are not Can Bus connected to ECU (as far as i'm aware), they have own memory on board..

But you can test the cluster via the ECU (open port cable, etc)

Speedos are mechanical driven and then they use an eddy current coupling to control the degree of pick up via induction of eddy currents

Correct....they dont have a cable.....they have the sensor you mention.
