Wow, what a jump! From a TX3 to an EVO 7/8!

What it comes down to is wether or not you import one.

I know for a fact you could import yourself a car for ALOT less that what you would pay from the dealer.

i.e: This E9 for 35k unshipped/uncomplied/unrego'd. Auction grade 7, 1000kms.

this site is good for an idication of what you should be paying. Make sure you check it every day!

If I were you, thats where i'd be looking for an EVO, why settle for a 7 or 8 when you can get a 9 for the price of an EVO 7 already in Aus?

HMmm, EVO 9 MR........

Can we get JSpec 9's complied but ?

Only in WA.

There isn't and probably won't be compliance that is acceptable to vicroads.

So I guess you're stuck with an 8.

In Vic, compliance isn't available for "current" models. and e9 MR don't satify two RAWS criteria in relation to the standard e9 gsr that we get already.

Stuck with 8's. Or 7's. I'd try for an 8 MR or GSR tho.

yeah cheers clutz it is a bit jump but there is no way that I am ever going back to rear wheel drive or FWD after AWD and I?m sick of breaking thing and having to get custom stuff for the car so I thought an evo would be a grate starting block for me. Yeah I?m looking at specs at the different models but it might look like a 7 or 8 I like the sound of this YAW (I think that?s right lol).
Are there any other aus evo forums? This seems to be the only one I have found

cheers for that gilly I will check them out

so what is the difference between a GSR and a MR

realm

MR's are like luxury versions.

Few extra bits and pieces, slightly more agressive engine. Nothing overly special.

Evolutionm.net will tell you all about the differences.

Kool so I think I will look for the MR sounds abit nicer. With regards to the alloy roof in the 8 compared to the steel roof of the 7 do it really make that much difference? From what I have read everyone likes the 6 because it is lighter but do it really make that much of a difference? Also with the gearbox, transfer case, diffs, and trannie I know they are strong but are there any issues in relation to stress with launching and fast shifting.

depends on what u want!! in my opinion the xi is the monter of the group! all u have to do is look at and you can see that it means business!!! So if you are plaining on destroying the world this is a fair weapon. The rest are sick aswell but seem to be abit more pimp than punch, but doesn't mean you can't destroy in them either! As for the drivelines go for it, you get well worth your money but everything has its limits and it is your duty to find them!!!

Just bear in mind that the AYC Diff is VERY costly if you stuff it.
Sometimes they can break & have AYC ECU Problems.
one of my mates had the AYC go on him in a EVO 7 & 8.
Cost on heavy side of $4000 to get fixed.

Isn't is strange how they just keep getting worse power/weight in the newer models (Not sure on the 9)
I'm a big fan of the EVO 3 that still has the best power/weight out of all the evo's to date!!!
But if your looking at a 7/8 then it could be a bit old for you, but still a HUGE jump up from your TX3.
My advice if you want a nice newish car then stick with the EVO 6/6.5 as they are a more "Rawer" EVO but with still with all the safeness of a new car.

Yeah I know what u mean that if they break they will be costly stuff to replace but I don?t want to be replacing gear boxes and diffs when you get some decent power out of it.
I suppose the best thing for me is to take one of each for a test drive and find the one the suits my driving.

Between all the different evo?s how easy is it to swap parts? How much boost dose an 7 and 8 run? Is it easy to up the boost of them or dose the ecu have a boost cut? And if the boost was up how much roughly before the fuel maps start running lean?

I know of a Mitsubishi owned 9 that has a lot of 7 parts on it

Brembos are identical, knuckles hubs etc.. i think suspension bolts up, but the 9's is better

Can anyone tell me what option come with the E7?s or point me in the right direction of where I can find some proper info on them other than the specs spec that Mitsubishi put out?

what models did these come out? RS, GSR?

cheers

yeh ive heard and seen that evo 9 (seven)special :)

as for evo choise.. ive driven most of the generations.. 3. 5 and 8 (stock and highly modified) and i think the 5 was the best.. (even more fun on the street than my Evo III rally car) it was very strong on the road, and had the best feed back (bar the rally car) and the motor felt the strongest too (bar the 250awkw E8) and its certianly the one i personally would recomend. The 5 has the advange of still good power to weight, with still the AYC (which is just unreal when worked propperly)

as for AYC, i was lucky enuf to get to test the Evo 8 against my vr4, just before they were release here, at the mitsubishi proving track at murray brige.. and the grip, even on stock tyres was awesome.. they are a heavy car but really really dont feel it.. they AYC does wonders for the way it feels..
