You do not need to remove it from the car!!!

The easiest thing to do, is take the cover off, remove 5th gear, and post some pics. You'll need to remove the nut, knock out the pin holding the selector in place and then remove the gear/hub/synchro etc.

You may only need to deglaze the synchro, or you it could be the engagement teeth on the gear. If the hub is damaged/worn, you can run the 5th gear one the opposite way, to save some $$$. It all comes down to how much of it is in need of repair.

If its just the deglazing, its a simple repair, and cheap. If it requires 5th gear, etc, it adds up.

What pin are u talking about mate? I have a brand new 5th gear synchro but have no idea what to do when you remove the nuts lol

He's talking about the pin holding the 5th gear hub assembly onto the selector fork. Here's a pic I took recently to show you what he means. I use a centre-punch to remove the pin  Once that's off you have access to the 5th gear synchro etc. The end case parts are the most quickest and easiest to replace in a gearbox. The rest suck as you have to fully disassemble the gearbox and get bearings and sleeves removed and pressed back on etc and you definitely cant do those whilst the gearbox is still in the car :)

If you are in brisbane I'm sure BrizVr4 or myself could help you out!

we are currently building and preping boxes at the moment! (strickly non profit at the moment)

The problem lies, if you need parts, there could be a wait if they are not in stock.
Also our contact in the states can get the parts very cheap but there is obvious delays getting them. 2nd hand bits are the next option - which we may be able to help with.

How much of a rush are you? and what is your location?

Pm me if you need info or help. or not?

doesn't phase me either way.

Troy
