HI,

Just wanted to know if anyone knows if the evo x 130A alternator will fit on the evo3? Just swap over the pulley?

If you want, look in my RIDES thread. I got a 140A alternator recently from the US. It was cheap to buy plus I discussed the wiring upgrades required and fusible link you need to change to do it. Has 14v at idle now :)

If you turn the alt off you will have low voltage at wot. I used a 40$ vx v6 commodore alt with the evo pulley (modified slightly).

Thanks, but will it bolt right on? or are the dimensions different?

I think that the voltage changes as you switch alt on and off will do funny things to your tune. Delivery of bang juice changes with voltage to the injector, the haltec PS use a table to compensate for this, do the factory ecu's do this? might be a big enough difference at big rpm/ load to make a difference, or at worst, do damage. Your voltage at the injectors will drop about 1 volt without the alt running, worse with a shit battery, lights on,doof box at full noise etc.....
Just a thought.

Not stupid ideas jack, I just didn't know if they did the compensation thing. I only realized a little while ago that my focus dropped the AC at full noise. I learnt the hard way about voltage compensation with the durascort after the volt reg shat itself.

Mate, the pulley is different to suit a different belt, the electronic plug is different to EVO 3 and its mounted in the opposite direction than an EVO 3 (plus spins the opposite direction but don't know if that make a difference).
You will also find that the brown plug in the pic will be facing your block, and the top mounting hole might not be in alignment with where it needs to bolt in when tensioning the belt.
I doubt it will fit.

Sorry my commodore one has a relocation kit and sits on the other side. I can tell you now the difference between 12.7v and 14.5v is huge for fuel pump flow and ignition output. Even 1v makes a big difference for missfires.
