ok... im a little frustrated...... :x

1st of all, anyone have ANY suggestions on how to get these f**king rusted screw(s) out, without damaging the boot skin/thread.

and second, how does one remove these stupid plastic things? these are the only things holding the top part of the spoiler on...... or hiding what is holding the top part of spoiler on!

thanks fellas

that screw looks like a pain
is it not spinning?
will the flat head not stay in the groove???

as for the 2nd pic
im not sure with the evo's
but i know with the vr4's they have some hardcore double sided tape..
i had all the nuts / bolts out when i removed the spoiler, but it still felt like a bolt / nut was holding it on.. but it was actually the tape

anyways, maybe try and use a stanley knife and slide it under the part u want to remove

as for the screw, no idea mate, some elbow great, maybe an impact screw driver to loosen up the screw or drill it out

good luck

The -easiest- method is to grab an impact drill and drill teh screw out. Simply because you haven't got enough space to get viceclamps onto it.

WD40 the CRAP out of it first tho and let it sit for 10 min. it might move on it's own. then apply more wd40/rp7/etc and try.

The clip the fastest way (if you don't want it anymore) is to chop it off with wire-cutters. You can buy these clips at any mitsub dealer in big bags... double check at your local one first. A razor is best for that tape too.

i dont really want to drill it out, cos i dont want to stuf the thread that the screw is sitting in currently, as i will nedd it again...(it holds the front bits of the spoiler down on both sides)

there was no tape at all.... :?

and if i cut those clips off, i dont think its really going to help, unless i just rip them out with pliers?

thanks baz and lawrence! ill give the rp7 a go.

Mate, just yank it!

Thats designed to com out the other way isnt it?

Do you have a zoomed out pic??

As for this one:

isnt that just a nut cover thing? just pull it off and there should be a nut underneath.

Sheesh, it cant be that hard? My mate is USELESS and he still said it was a "piece of cake"

ROFL sorry to rub it in bro 8)

to add tears to the frustration:

both screws, as shown above, were rusted on both sides of the bootlid, as was the surrounding boot.....

i got the main spoiler assembly off finally..... to find two dirty rusted out screw holes....

then, to rub salt in the wound, after finally fu*king figuring out how to get the top part away from the bottom part (3 screws on either side, UNDER glued-on rubber seal), 2 of the screws on one side are also rusted beyond help, AND the centre support for the whole spoiler assembly is part of the bottom part, not the top.

so yessss

id really like to be standing next to the SHUNT who designed this POS spoiler so I could kick him in the f**king NOOTS!!!!!

i say drill it out, 10 mins is all i give any bolt or screw, 2 mins is more than enough for any screw/bolt/nut thats goig to come off properly,

then spray with inox or wd40, leave for 5 mins, have another crack at it, if still no joy.... out with the drill, & drill the c*nt out!

dont worry about the thread, just re-tap it, any mechanic will have a tapping kit just use the same size again & it will clean up the original thread, if its reallly fucked, tap it bigger!
