Have just been defected tonight because of my factory tint. Does anybody know how a car can get through compliance with "apparent" defective tint?

It's mirror tint, but only on the rear side windows, not the driver and passenger door. Bought the car with this tint, from a dealer/importer, and was Australian complied when i purchased it.

Advice please?

I thought that because your car is a van, you can have the blackest/darkest/mirror tint you can get?

Or was it just a case of a wanker trying to defect you for something, because he couldn't find anything else??

thats what I thought. He didn't even look at anything on my car (thank god) went for the tint and thats it.

considering its been complied to ADR regulations, perhaps a call to his sergeant may be in order??

I thought you were allowed whatever tint you want on any windows except the front two, and the windscreen?

well made a few calls today and found out that I don't have chose but to pay the fine. However so I don't have to take the tint off the car I can take the back seat out and get a mod plate.

but the good thing about that is once I do the it is a commercial vehicle and I can clame everything on tax (mybe).

matress if it reflects light it's a defect in all states, I did ask.

So having glass in your car means your car is defectable??!!

Man the laws SUCK here in Australia!!!

but what gets me is how many time have you been driving behind a ute or something with a flat window on the back and the sun reflects off the back window?

Yeah so did I. Better find out a bit more about this before I go and get the tint done.. I was going 5% on the rear doors quarter windows and rear screen. The windscreen cunt at work seems pretty sure it's legal.

Seriously sucks if you have to pay a fine for it, sorry to hear it mate. Really doesn't sound right at all. :?

tborvr, VR Commonwhore utes especially. :x

i agree. those utes with flat rear windows kill my eyes, i hate it, how can u be defected for something on the side of the car when having that reflection of direct sun light glare from those stupid rear windows be ok.? wadda crap defect.
