fastest evo from factory?

A friend and I was having a discussion late lastnight and i found what he said was amusing.

it went along the lines of...

"Evo 8MR is the fastest evo out from factory Whether it be around a track or in a straight line"

Just wanted to other ppls opinion.

As i dont think it is.

Well thats certainly an interesting one... what about all the FQ models that Ralliart UK did. I guess it kinda blurs the line of what factory is.

All motors will be pulling similar power.

Evo 3 had around 201kw where as the Evo 9 have around 213kw. (I got that info from wikipedia)

So my guess would be the lighter one would be faster. I always thought Evo 3's were the quickest in a line from factory.

does like low 12s out of the box... i dont think even a 6.5 would do that.

Are we talking about standing start acceleration, rolling start acceleration or the overall package? You would automatically assume that the Evo 3 RS would be quickest in a straight line based on power/weight, but then again, it doesn't have all the driver aids to help it get off the line. The 3 lacks the torque of later model evos and is less aerodynamic, so theoretically, later model evos should slightly bridge the gap as speed increases. In my opinion, the TMR Evo 6.5 (due to it's combination of light weight, power and handling) is the ''quickest overall package". Feel free to spit flames at me if I am barking up the wrong tree...

Off the mark, the older chassis would win hands down, but i'm fairly sure its the 6.5, 8MR or 9MR RS which is the fastest

an 8mr runs 12.7 out of the box as its been done numerous times.

we all know that the galant vr4 is the fastest around the track.....

thats after you aim the vr4 at the evo on the launch and crush it with its heavy weight.........

As you sure? I didnt think there was any EVO that runs 12's stock. EVO 9's do it in 13.6 seconds- its hard to see an 8 MR doing it in .9 of a second faster
