I have spoken to afew friends and stuff.. and this year just passed didnt seem festive at all? anyone else feeling it?

i wonder if it had anything to do with the GFC etc..

Jon

I know what you mean.. I have noticed a few people in my group were just over it all this year..

I think the GFC has played some part, but also think a lot of people have had to work twice as hard to make sure they stay in a job... And like me are totally exhausted...

So still did the presents and limited family stuff this year, but most peoples plans for NYE were quite tame.. Just hanging around home, and no big party's..

same here

Yeah same here. Not very motivated to do anything. I personally haven't noticed the GFC, I for one really hate how commercialised Christmas has become. I think that has played the biggest part of my de-motivation to celebrate. And even then, I'm not religeous, so why even celebrate it, people just want presents, but they don't get presents...Everyone just gives and receives gift vouchers because they can't be bothered buying something proper.
*insert anger monkeys*

/end rant.

saw and spent some time with friends and family over the past week.....thats what its all about:thumbsup: but ur right jonson about xmas propaganda and the rest of it:thumbsdown:

Christmas to me has been very commercialized for a long time.

shops wanting longer and longer trading hours.....ad after ad on TV for sales on boxing day.

then when the day actually arrives most people are just glad its over.

I for one was very glad it was over.

Christmas in general shits me. I don't need a reason to have a family get together. IMO Families that only see each other on major holidays are dysfunctional. (Immediate family and direct cousins/aunt's/uncles + grandparents. Don't mean 2nd/3rd/etc cousins)

Actaually I think its the fact that a/ people in general had a hard year - I wish I didnt know so many having bust ups and divorse, the flu was shocking this year too, most people I know had the flu for at least a month, money crisis played a role , and to top it off,b/ for us who live in Sydney , its supposed to be summer , the weather has been so unpredictable,
Christmas dinner for me was at a resturant, only kids got gifts , and NYE went to a local park to watch fireworks along with a few other families (9pm ones) when home we watched the big ones on tv- yep glad its over

My main fmialy is like that. I see my Mum, Brother and one of my Sisters all the time. The other one lives down the road, but only see her on occasions. Only time I see my Aunts and Uncles is Birthdays and Christmas. Only see my Dad on Christmas. So when we do see eachother it is awkward.
We just don't make time for eachother, no excuses.

This year is gonna be big for me, so hopefully next Christmas/NYE we have something to celebrate.

Yeah I have just been a bit over this Christmas season. The time off of work is good but aside from that it's just a time of year when everyone wastes money on everyone.

There's nothing I hate more than receiving a crap present. It's just a waste, and I'd much prefer no present.
