Hey. Recently picked up my new 4g63t
Block is a vr4 head Evo 3
Oil lines for oil cooler are missing
How do I find out what thread and fitting to use in it? I'll make some braded lines for it

Risk with putting random bolts into a threaded hole is that you can stuff the thread if you're not careful and then you're rooted.... esp since the oil filter housing is alloy and the threads can be easily damaged by a steel bolt.

Did you check this sticky in the E1-3 tech section Gianni?

Also - if you're using an EVO3 cylinder head on a VR4 block you will probably need to enlarge the holes in the cylinder head that the headstuds from the block stick through. The VR4 uses larger studs than the EVO so if you're not careful you'll go to drop the head on the studs and it'll get stuck half-way down the studs - and 'No' - the EVO headstuds won't work in the VR4 block.

My STRONG recommendation is to get the machine shop who will be machining your cylinder head to drill them out for you rather than attempt it yourself.

Oh the engine is together already. I'm just going over everything and making sure everything is ready before I drop it in :)

So if I find the thread size. I can then order a fitment and attach my own hoses on it yeah?

Was the engine rebuilt that way (Evo head on VR4 block) by the previous owner? I wasn't aware of a variant of our engines coming out that way stock (I have been mistaken once before! )

Yeah.

Don't forget you'll need crush washers too (pg 26).

Yeah. Was built that way :) alrighty. I'll look into it. Was lOokong at angittingsdirect but it all seems to be imperial. Once successful I'll probs make a braided clutch line. Are brake lines much harder aswell. Or is it totally different due to preasure

Oil filter housing for a VR4 will be M16 x 1.5 .
DO NOT attempt to make yourself either a braided clutch line or brake lines.
Far too much pressure in them, leave it to the pros to make up. Clutch line is pretty cheap to get made anyway.

Yeah true :) I'll take ur advice. I might just do oil cooler. Do u know what I need for power steering?
Can u do coolant :p

Its also illegal to make braided brake lines yourself, they are piss easy to make if you know what your doin tho

Yeah true. I'll just make the oil and power steering lines :p
save yourself the hassle and cost - go pushlok for the oil lines. you don't need blue/red (speedflow) fittings either. go to enzed and ask for JIC steel fittings. they are steel, strong, shiny chrome finish, cheaper and more forgiving than aluminium. unless you want the bling or want it to look like every car in Zoom magazine... :)

I don't really want the colored fittings. Haven't made up my mind if I want solver or black tubing though

What's enzed lozza?
