I agree with your theory, and i rang Ross at auto clutch about it. He said due to the cost of accessing the clutch (around 500 bux) i better make sure that this is definately the problem.
So the idea is i'm trying to narrow down the problem, if the firewall flex maybe causing the problem and will be causing problems in the future it makes sense to fix this first and then look at the clutch if it doesnt resolve the problem.
I dont think the russian guy did a clutch however maybe you could talk to the guy that owned it before him and see if he did...do you still have a contact number......
I am happy to give you a hand but as you know Im south of the river. let me know ....there maybe something that can be easy fixed
