our of curiosity how does PayPal secure the safety of your money not being theived?

It will be very very hard to steal using paypal, cos you have to provide legit Bank account details.

Even if you create a new account at the bank for $1, you stel will be needed to provide all details such as birth certificate, drivers licence etc.

So if someone was to scam, someone they wont have a chance to run, unless they forge all there documents.

To use paypal you need to have a verified account and thats with your bank account details, via recieving 2 little sums deposited into the account so it can get started, like .5 cents and .2 cents or so.

I guess it will be like a bank loan, if you want to boroow $50,000 you will need to go into the bank and show all details, to scam that money youd have to forge every bit of info, well thats like paypal.

If only it was like that.....
If you do get ripped off by someone using Paypal then unless they actually have the funds in their Paypal account you will not see a red cent of your money. Buyer protection has very tight guidelines.
Chances are that if they are running a scam they will withdraw all the funds and close the account before you even have time to file a claim.

Like the old saying goes, "You pays your money, you takes your chances"
Good luck in getting Paypal to disclose the identity details of the other person to you as well.
You might want to have a bit more of a read of their terms and conditions.

Most people out there are honest folks but there will always be the small percentage of assholes.

You would think though, that a sale is a sale, and a normal seller would be prepared to at least meet the buyer half way in terms ...

I bought a set of Recaro's off ebay once.. It was from a guy in WA, and he had no feedback.. I was new to Ebay also and had no feedback but went ahead with the buy... It was 2.5K that I deposited into his bank account, and luckily, the goods came through ...

But .... When I put them in the car, and went to get them engineered (about 18 months later), I found out they were fakes .... Grrrrrrrrr ..... The guy was long gone by then, and not an ebay user .... They were good looking fakes though ... Even my mechanic and all my friends thought they were real ...

I dont understand why you didnt go further and sue that rip off artist. the police would've done their services to locate him via his bank account details.

$2500 is a bloody big amount, yiou would win the court battle anyday, as you said the seats were fully fake.

I was ripped of of $300 on ebay once via western union, but thats $300 bucks, 300 isnt worth the hassle, but 2500, thats a diffrent story.

Exactly as quoted above... My time, court fee's and having someone claim they can't pay you back is just not worth it... Because it was so long after the auction too, there is nothing that could be done... I contacted the seller about it, and he claimed that he bought them as real Recaro's from a shop in Perth. The shop had since closed down and there was no other way to get a receipt to confirm if they ADR compliant...

So, I sold em to a friend of a friend as Recaro Copies... Not sure what he did with them.... They were good copies tho ...
