My hazard switch was a bit sad and only worked when wriggling it around so I decided to clean it up. I took some pics of the process for those who might need to do it too, it saves hunting around at
wreckers and paying for a new one.
The pics should come up in order but I'll put an explanation in as well.
Tools needed: Small flat screwdriver, small round tech point screw driver or piece of coat hanger wire or similar, very fine wet and dry sandpaper 600-800, cotton tips, metho or contact
cleaner, electrical lube or in my case WD40.
After removing the switch from the dash, prise open the bottom part of the switch and pull out the rocker switch part, give these a bit of a light rub with fine wet and dry then wipe with metho. Be careful
with the light rub, these are made from very soft metal.
Then remove the circuit board and clean with metho as well, I used metho because it was there and doesn't melt anything, avoid carby cleaner and similar products, contact cleaner would be ideal but
save yourself the $.
Push the pin out at the top of the switch and pull out the slide pins, give these a bit of a clean and maybe a rub as well. Check that they are all straight and give them a slight bend towards the contact
area of the board, and I mean slight, be gentle.
Reinsert the top of the switch and replace pin, put a bit of lubricant on the board (electrical lube if you have it, I just used WD40) then slide this up into the housing, take care not to snag the slide pins,
then check to make sure it moves freely.
Lastly, make sure the rocker contacts are on the correct way, keep the switch vertical to keep the rocker in place, then gently click it back together using the small screw driver.
