Hello!
Just wanted to touch base and invite 4GTUNER to compete in the 2012 ARC Just Car Insurance Forum Battle at Calder Park Raceway.

The first event of its kind as Forum Battle infiltrates the Australian Rally Championship (ARC) at Calder Park in March 2012. This is all about online forums enjoying some light hearted competition against each other in an offline event spanning across multiple disciplines of motorsport and car culture including:

-Time attack
-Show and shine
-400m Drags
-Gymkhana
-Tarmac Rally Stage

Details:
Forum Battle will span over 2 days. There’s $20k’s worth of prizes up for grabs for forum members and prime time TV coverage on Channel 10 alongside the ARC coverage.

  1. Club Support : This is a non-motorsport discipline. Each car forum will be provided a unique ticket code for the event and points will be awarded to forums based on the ticket sales per forum and thus the support of the event, each forum and the ARC Forum Battle by the forum members.
  2. Time Attack : This event will consist of 2 cars and drivers from each forum. Each driver will have 2 x 15-minute sessions to post their best time over the 1.6 kilometre Calder Park National Circuit Short Course (see attached map). There will be up to 8 cars on the track at once.
  3. Rally Stage/One-Lap Dash :This event will consist of 2 cars and drivers from each forum. Each driver will get 4 runs over the 2km course using the Calder Park National Circuit Long Course, the best time for each driver will be used to determine overall ARC Forum Battle points. Cars will be flagged away (rallystyle!) at 30 second intervals using timing beams at start and finish.
  4. Gymkhana : This event consists of 2 cars and drivers from each forum. Each driver will get 2 runs over the 750 metre highly technical slalom gymkahana course utilising pit lanes in the middle of the thunderdome. This is the most used section of calder park raceway for Rally Calder and will be highly visible to the public . Cars will be flagged away (rallystyle!) at 30 second intervals using timing beams at start and finish.
  5. Drag/Quarter Mile Sprint : The event will consist of 4 cars and drivers from each forum. Each driver will get multiple runs over the strip.
  6. Show n Shine : 20 cars per forum with each forum given an area within the Rally Calder Service Park precinct to “make their own”. A panel of judges will award points to the best presented individual cars and car forum as a whole – so get those creative juices flowing in terms of your areas!

Ever wanted to mix it with the big boys of rally? Now you can, the Forum Battle will be running a rally stage event to get you in the action. Tiem to represent your forum and see if you can beat a ARC rally car at its own event. Entry Fee $150.

Supplementary Regulations

1. The event will be conducted at Calder Raceway utilising the revised National Circuit Track as per the map below including a temporary chicane as part of the back straight.

2. The event has been scheduled amongst other Rally Calder events for two-sessions between 2:10 and 3:00pm and two sessions between 5:25 and 6:15pm on Saturday 3rd March

5: The outright winners of this event will be determined by the competitor who posts the quickest time in any of the nominated sessions throughout the day.

6. Timing will be through the use of beams at the flying finish point which will record competitors times to the 10th of a second. Competitors will leave the start in 30 second intervals. Timekeepers will be considered Judges of Fact. Reruns will only be permitted at the discretion of the Clerk of Course.

7. There are likely to be NO PASSING ZONES at various parts of the These will be advised at Drivers Briefing, and be marked by yellow flags. Any driver observed passing in these areas will be summoned to appear in front of the stewards.

Security guards on the gate will request proof of entry for both vehicle and crew. Persons holding general admission ticketing will only be able to enter the track within the times open to the public.

11. Cars may only enter the Dummy Grid area when called up and must be ready at least 10 minutes prior to their nominated track time allocation which will be communicated . Keen as! I'de be keen to get into the drags, time attack and show and shine (respray currently under way)
From what I can understand u can only have a certain amount of cars from each forum enter each event? If that's the case I'm sure there are more qualified cars on here for the track events but show and shine I'm in 100%

Great to hear you guys are keen! We will be announcing the prize pool shortly and looking to start locking down some teams. Forums like OPELAUS look like they will do well and win parts of the competition just on sheer numbers so the more the cars you have on the ground the better exposer, prizes and Kudos 4G will get.

Let me know if you need any more detail!

Cheers

you can only have 2 cars per forum in each event.
Make no mistake there will be some fast cars there, and I might be wrong but I dont think you can enter the rally
part unless you are an ARC registered competitor. Lewis will know.

yeah you need to be registered for the ARC or the Australian Tarmac Rally Championship to do the outright rally, however there is a rally/lap dash competition as a part of the forum challenge. It will use just one of the tarmac stages that is being used for the main event. Its listed in Baz's list as no.3 The map of the stage (as well as the map for the Gymkhana & time attack) is Here.

I think the forum challenge will be a great event and it would be awesome to see an entry in from T4G.

Ah well like I said there are quicker cars in here than mine so dont put me down for the track events.
I'm sure there will be lots of quick cars. Are there category's for the drags? Like street trim, tubbed and untubbed, FWD/RWD/AWD etc... Or is it just forums vs forums whatever they bring?

Fuck would love to do this, need to pull some late nighter Baz and do all the small shit which takes the most time!

C'mon Dave...

So is everybody cool (since it is a forum thing) if it is either the below for the DRAG RACING:

TENJI
OFFON-4
MYSELF (BAZENG)
KAOTIK

We have to have at least 2 cards ready by March.....

Any nominations for the other events?

Can anybody interested please put your hands up?

Any interstaters keen to participate?
