Without hoping underneath the car and looking for codes.

Did all EVO II come with front and rear lsd's?

I had my car jacked up last night and spun the rear wheels and the front wheels and the other wheel went in the opposite direction which would lead me to believe I have front and rear LSD's.

Were there different types of LSD's or was it you have it or your don't?

evos came with a rear LSD from the factory. front LSD was an option.

if you spin a wheel and the opposite wheel spins in the opposite direction it means you have an open diff (IE no LSD)

I was under the impression that if I spun one wheel and the opposite went the other direction that meant I had a LSD.

If I had a open centre then the other wheel wouldn't have spun at all.

it will spin wether open or lsd.....but lsd usually spins in the same direction of rotation as the one being spun.

Interesting.

I also held the wheel and the other wheel couldn't be spun.

Where are the codes on the gearbox and the rear diff. I guess I will have to jump under and see what they are.

correct

also if you hold it and the other wont spin that would be open also, which is why the opposite side spins the other way.

Gearbox: Check it against the gearbox codes below for EVO II:
WPGE: GSR
WPWE: GSR with front LSD
WPYE: RS
WPFE: RS with front LSD

Rear diff: If its an EVO 2 diff then it would have a mechanical LSD centre. To test just grab and turn one of the inner CV cups. Normally if the other side turns the same way, it's a viscous unit (but shouldnt be the case on EVO 1 RS, EVO 2 or EVO 3). If the other side turns the other way like an open diff, it would be mechanical (or open) since they had no static preload from the factory. To confirm either remove the cups and have a look or take the cover off.

if you have an open diff the other wheel will spin the other way mate. Thats the entire principle of a differential.
And if you hold one wheel statically the other would spin twice as fast.

Ok it is time for a front upgrade to the LSD.

What does everyone recommend?

I was thinking a KAZZ 1.5 Front LSD.

Opinions comments links to cheap prices?

Thanks

There are a few options

What do you plan to use the car more of?? daily? track?

Ralliart diff is ideal for everyday and track, Cusco and Kaaz would be better suited just for track IMO

Used Cusco 1 way - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JDM-Cusco-1way-LSD-Mitsubishi-CC4A-CB4A-CA4A-CD9A-CE9A-/180675116390?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a11137d66

New Kaaz 1.5 way - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kaaz-1-5-Way-Front-LSD-Mitsubishi-EVO-1-2-3-Mirage-/110601709077?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c0602615

The car is only track driven apart from the occasional nav event.

I got a cusco 1- way from perfectrun.com afew yrs ago.. They come in clutch or sprung types.. Cos me 1500 all up installed..

Viscous also spin the oppisite way until you speed it up, then it changes direction and spins the same.

Im running kaaz front in both the vr4 and amg and I can tell you that they ate both quite noisy. Sounds like stuffed cvs while turning with load.
