Hey guys,

Just needing a bit of info on what's going to be easiest to do in my situation.

Pretty much, my SSG manual box is just about completely shagged - jumps out of first, won't shift nicely 1-2, won't shift 3-2 nicely anymore, reverse stutters.

I've got a manual HSG, but the front diff is incorrect ratio. Am I better off ;

1) Swapping the front diffs over in the casings

2) swap internals from HSG box into SSG box and replace bearings.

3) Match. Fuel. Fire.

Thanks !

Pete.

If the mounts on the box are the same, option 1. If not, option 2.
Either way you go, always good idea to give the box a freshened up hey.
Don't go option 3, you could always give the hsgr box to me..... Lol.
Have fun bro.

What's the gearbox codes on the HSG and the SSG?
They both should have double synchro 2nd and the rest of the internals be the same other than the front diff crownwheel and output pinion.
So yeah, just swap the front diffs, crownwheel and output pinion over to the good gearbox.
REMEMBER: OUTPUT PINION TOO!! Yes they both have 15 teeth but their size and shape are specific to match the number of crownwheel teeth it mates too.

SSG box number : W5M332MMZL

HSG : W5M332UMGL

Both are sitting on the floor in my shed, taking to the box builder on Monday. The ssg got so bad, it lost reverse, and now stuck in 3rd, all in 5 minutes lol. Managed to get it out to my other house which has the shed, so yeah, they're both out. Couple of quick photos.

both boxes on the ground. Car in bits.

probably wrong colour for oil that's only been in there for 6 months.

I've got another clutch ready to go in, looks like this one was a stock clutch, had the mitsi emblem on pressure plate and clutch plate, but highly doubt it's the stock one at 247,000 km.

Wow man.... ultimate garage!!!
I'ld be decking out the side of it with a lounge, big screen TV, fridge, microwave, pool table, fan, heater, carpet, a bed and an empty bucket in the corner to piss in. lol

Haha thanks ! House will be finished in julyish, so will be making a nice little room in the back for a lounge etc. Slightly better then my 2.5x3, it's 12x10.

Bit scary only having one stand under the front, or is that an optical illusion?
I thought you were supposed to use them in pairs so the car doesn't fall on you.

Is that an actual jacking point? I have always worried about where to jack up the HSGR
So far haven't bent anything but always worry.

Looks like the front white one is holding up the engine while the two blues are jacked up holding axles or under a-arms
Jealous of all that space!

Yes it would make my life easier to have that much too.
Still I'd probably just fill it with "stuff"

optical illusion, there's 2 blue stands on the chassis rails, the silver one at the front is holding weight off the motor, the trolley jack is just there " in case".

Yeah haven't managed to do anything until the house is finished, we can't get insurance for the shed, so no point leaving essential items in there. Basically I drove my S13 out there, dropped the fuses to both fuel pumps, removed cas and couple of other things just to disable it. And left my spare SR20 that's in bits and my track wheels etc. Love my big shed !. Bit of saving and i'll be able to go the 2 poster I've wanted. The centre bit in front of the door to a bit in front of the RVR is 150 thick with double mesh, so it's setup for it as soon as I can get to it, plus will have 3 phase up there as well. Perks of buying an acre block on a corner !

RVR is sitting in there for now, they can't go anywhere so it's fine. Just have to drive around in the Sierra until I get it back.

Going to do rad hoses, clean underneath it a bit more, and try to find the part number for the cam cover while i'm at it and replace that. Sent an email to Meek last Saturday, haven't heard anything back, are they still open ?

Pete

Sorry not the cam cover itself, I need the cam seals I'm pretty sure, I've got an oil leak on Timing belt side of the engine, and above the water pump.

VIN is N23W-5207108.

Thanks

Here's a few numbers that might help find bits
If you are having seal problems it may be a good idea to replace all of the seals on the front just in case??
I see you are doing hoses too so I've put those numbers in too

Thanks Man ! I ordered a top hose through Auto One, came in today.

Tried fitting my spare set of 4 pot r32 front calipers, but no go :( would've been a good little upgrade.
