Today i changed my front shocks out for another pair i had on my parts car these had Eibach springs and a mitsubishi kyb shock , the thing is when i pulled my existing kyb excel-g shocks out
and compared them to the set i was putting in the size difference in the shaft was huge. The mitsubishi kyb are massive compared to the excel-g double the thickness.Anyway i fitted them and the ride is a little hard but still nice. My question is what are these massive kyb mitsubishi shocks i have are they something rare or just normal , even my mate who previously owned the car was shocked by the size difference.

G'day.
A guess.
They may be a 40m insert in a KYB strut. Drummond Motorsport I think does them?
Essentially they are an upside down shock with the smaller shaft end inside the main tube of the strut. There should be, in that case, a nut on the shaft at the bottom of the strut.
If you undo the nut, while holding the shaft with a screwdriver in the slot at the end, the inner slides out. You can replace the 40mm seal at the top of the strut and regrease inside the strut as a service.
Cheers
Ross

I think your on the money there Ross i did notice the nut on the bottom and was hoping it was some sort of dampener adjustment,it went for a wheel alignment today and they asked what the car is used for
My reply was its my daily they were a bit shocked sayin its got the camber of a track car so now i have to get some camber adjustment gear into it .
