Updated July 2012 - Will make a new thread when I finish some more transmissisons.
All the gearboxes have since been spoken for and sold - so too have a lot of gearbox parts in the meantime. I will let you guys know when I have more available.
I'm always on the lookout to buy broken or damaged gearboxes to repair and bring back to life. I can even arrange pickup by freight to save you some hassle.
So please dont be a tosser and throw it away or stash it under the house as there's guys out there keen to see them get recirculated back into the community ;)

Hi guys
Im currently working on a few W5M33 AWD gearboxes. Before I close them up I figured I'd ask just in case somebody wants to mix and match something to their desire.
1. GSR gearbox NRBE code (no LSD). Good second hand condition. Single synchro 2nd gear. Opened and inspected. Replaced some parts. Is good to go. $650 SOLD
2. GSR gearbox NRBE code (no LSD). Very good second hand condition. Ive fitted a spare EVO III 1st/2nd hub and slider plus excellent condition double synchro 2nd gear synchro rings taken from one of my Evo 3 gearboxes. New seals all round. $800 SOLD
3. GSR gearbox NRBE code (no LSD). Very good second hand condition. I've fitted a spare EVO III 1st/2nd hub and slider plus excellent condition double synchro 2nd gear synchro rings taken from one of my Evo 3 gearboxes. New seals all round. $800 SOLD
4. EVO III gearbox (with Ralliart mech LSD). Excellent condition. Brand spanking new OEM 1st/2nd gear hub and slider. New double syncro 2nd. New 1st gear synchro. Near new 3rd and 4th double synchros easy 90%+. New double springs on 2nd gear for better shifting. New keys on 1st/2nd hub. Revised nylon padded cast shift forks all round to reduce heat and wear. New seals all round. Shim thicknesses for bearing preloads and endplay can be set to your desire (or tell me how much power you're making), Ralliart 1-way front mech LSD. The empty gearbox casing is currently getting externally bead blasted for a clean fresh finish :) This box aint cheap and cost me approx $2500 to purchase and build (not including my time and labour). Looking to recover my costs or I will keep it as a spare box in case I ever break my other, more expensive gearbox = $2500 firm.SOLD
5. GSR 58 tooth front diff viscous crownwheel + Viscous LSD + GSR output pinion. Ultra rare to suit GSR rear diff ratio. $600 SOLD.
6. GSR 3.545 rear diff with brand new installed Koyo 32009JR bearings. Diff housing painted black = $200 SOLD
7. As new Cusco MZ mechanical front LSD. Was purchased new, fitted into gearbox, then project stalled and sold off as parts. Easily <5km use due to driving up and down street during project build = $1000SOLD
8. EVO III 63 tooth open front diff crownwheel + Open front diff + EVO III output pinion + EVO III 1.074 transfer case = $TBA set (must use EVO 3.909 rear diff with this set)

10. Another rare GSR 58 tooth front diff viscous crownwheel + Viscous LSD + GSR output pinion. Ultra rare to suit GSR rear diff ratio. $600 CLAIMED BY MY BROTHER lol.

UPDATING THREAD FROM TIME TO TIME SO PLEASE COME BACK AND CHECK AGAIN

OTHER USEFUL INFO
* I can mix and match an EVO I-III front diff ratio into one of the GSR boxes if somebody prefers, or I can put a GSR front diff ratio into an EVO gearbox depending on part availability or supply by you. If I have the corresponding speedo gear I'll install it into it as well. Price on application depending on what you want to build.
* If you prefer a viscous LSD centre for your GSR or EVO gearbox let me know as I have a spare viscous LSD front diff centre. I can fit either a rare GSR V-LSD front diff crownwheel or an EVO 3 V-LSD front diff crownwheel to it. Price on application. Note: I do not have a driver's side LSD CV cup for it though. Sold
* Empty gearbox cases can be optionally fine glass blasted to a clean fresh finish before assembly for an additinal $80 (nobody likes a grubby gearbox casing and it sure as sh!t beats cleaning it yourself! lol)
* Those who would like an AWD gearbox converted to 2WD with a Viscous Coupling Eliminator (locking spline), just send me your locking spline and I'll install it for you for free to save you the hassle. However, I reccommend that using a welded centre diff is a much better, stronger and cheaper option for a FWD conversion and there is no need for the added expense of a VCE!!!.
* Those with FWD's or AWD's who want their centre diffs professionally welded by a qualifed and experienced tradesman can have it done for $100 (you supply a good centre diff with upper and lower pinions). Price is due to callout fee and/or weekend rate as I cant do it myself.
* Gearboxes reassembled to torque specs and reassembled using quality Threebond gasket sealer.
* Gearboxes can be shimmed to custom bearing preloads and endplay for an additional fee. Price depends if I have the right shim thicknesses available or need to order them in from the U.S.
* I can organise freighting a gearbox on a skid interstate to your nearest E-Go Transport delivery depot. Cheapest rate is Depot to Depot via road and around the $50-$60 mark along the east coast these days (huge savings than ever before). Cost is the price of freight + extra $25 to cover a skid and fuel for me to drop off to my nearest depot. The choice to pay for added insurance or not is at your own cost (see E-Go's conditions). Paperwork will be emailed to you as proof of freight charges.
* Disclaimer: I do not run a shop - I am a long time private enthusiast who knows my way around these cars with many engine builds and conversions + several gearbox builds done over the years. I've been around long enough to know that we all like to launch our Mitsu's hard and break stuff  Therefore these gearboxes do not come with warranty because there is no way to control how it is treated once installed. I personally opened, inspected, replaced what needed to be replaced, then re-assembled the boxes above knowing full well that they are in good working condition when I tightened each and every bolt - thats got to count for peace of mind rather than buying a second hand unopened and uninspected gearbox in unknown condition. It is entirely your freedom of choice whether to commit to a purchase or not :)

Here's some of many pics during the builds:

Hi guys, the response has been overwhelming with several PM's to answer for the last 3.5 hours.
Im getting a few people asking me how much to fix their damaged gearboxes, but guys, at this stage Im just looking to sell the ones I currently have to clear some room before considering taking on any new jobs - hope you understand.

Hey Mate,

I'm hoping you can help me out, I have a 93 lancer gsr, and need a replacement gearbox.

Really interested to know what my options are? I'm in Sydney, but can arrange to come up to new castle if needs be.

If an evo box goes in does the diff need to be changed? Whats going to be best long term?

Cheers heaps

Anthony

Hi Anthony
Yes, if you straight up fit an EVO I/II gearbox it will have a different front diff ratio than a GSR has. Therefore you need to either change your rear diff ratio to the 3.909 EVO I-III to suit (run EVO ratios all round); or you can put your GSR front diff crownwheel and output pinion from inside your existing GSR gearbox into an EVO gearbox to make it suitable for your existing GSR transfer and rear diff ratio.
Long term, obviously the longer ratios will benefit daily driving, reduce engine/gearbox wear and strain due to running at lower rpm's at those speeds and it reduces fuel consumption. It's not going to be a massive difference but definitely a very noticable difference. Its also common for people with EVO gearboxes to swap out the EVO crownwheel and pinion for GSR items to lower their rpms at higher speeds (around 2850rpm at 100kmh with 17/215/40 tyres) and if they want to cross the quarter mile in high 4th gear without shifting into 5th gear.
Some guys with Evo boxes can still cross the quarter in high 4th gear but it depends at how high an rpm your engine is happy to run at.

Hey,

Do you have anything to suit? What do you think I'm looking at cost wise?

I could get Meek Automotive in Sydney to Install or happy to deal with yourself.

Could I get your contact number?

Cheers
Anthony

^^^ haa fukn haa.... next you'll say they come together hand in hand
EDIT: Besides, I know you want me to build you a good gearbox soon too so we'll see who's laughing then? :p

Ok, you got the SMS to tell you to read this lol.

I havent been doing much lately due to health issues, however I do have 2 x complete GSR boxes:

Box #1 = Removed straight from my car in March when I removed the engine to do some work. The gearbox has no issues except a leaking output shaft seal... pffft... it'll take me 5 mins to replace it with a brand new one Ive got sitting in a packet on the shelf. One of my friends claimed dibs on it as a spare for himself but its just been sitting here doing nothing for the last 6 months since I removed it.

Box #2 = Apparently has a crunchy first gear. It definitely needs a new output shaft seal as the inside of the bellhousing around it was coated black. I dont know much else about it so I will need to inspect and repair. Wasnt planning on doing that til Xmas holidays lol.

What are the symptoms with your old gearbox as I might be able to repair it, offer a trade in after an inspection, or probably offer you something for what's left of it.
I used to accept a trade in without inspection, but I got stiffed last time with a damaged box that had ran without oil in it for sometime and I had little useful left over to use as spare parts :fuuuuu:

Ok the 1st box sounds ok but u gotta fix that seal and how much u want for it... My box needs a center diff and a few seals no crunches at all regularly serviced plz let me know ASAP as I'll be in Newcastle Friday thank you

"needs a centre diff" does that mean the centre diff is broken? If so...it is likely third gear will be as well. Why I an not really sure but the boxes that I have opened after the centre diff failed all showed damage to third gear.

Ah, I dont have a spare centre diff left unfortunately. I was kind of hoping your centre diff and intermediate shaft were still good so I can reuse them in an Evo box I have in waiting :(

But as Brian mentioned, if your centre diff blew then theres definitely broken bits of spider gears and cross-shaft scattered around the gearbox. I bet more than one of the shafts, gears, bearings, the output pinion or front diff crownwheel are damaged as a result because when the centre diff lets go theres rather a lot of large pieces of metal getting flung around in the centre case that make their way around the rest of the box causing damage elsewhere. If you wanted to trade in your old box without inspection then I wouldnt want to take the gamble on giving you much for it due to the blown centre diff. But if you wanted to come over on Friday for around an hour, I can open your box up in front of you so we can take a quick look at the damage together.

GSR Box #1 - Low km gearbox from my car. Quick history - My car was taken off the road around Sydney Olympics in 2000 for the AWD conversion. Car sat in the workshop for over a year during which time they rebuilt the gearbox sometime in 2001. Car sat in garage, got engineered and registered in Aug 2009. Only driven 4,500kms between Aug 2009 - March 2012 (or 4,500kms over the past 12 years, depending on your slant). Im not going to let this box go for anything under $1200 outright. [To buy new bearings, synchros and seals alone these days costs me $900]. As mentioned, the only issue with installing it as is would be the slight leak from the output shaft seal. However, Ive got a new OEM seal that I will put in it as its only a 5 minute job. It is OK for pick up on Friday if youre interested.

Note: In my car with a h/duty single plate clutch and Fidanza lightened flywheel it would shift good under 6,500rpm where most GSR owners with OEM setups would be comfortable shifting most of the time. However in my 4G63 with GT3082 turbo and 8,200rpm rev cut, when I was slow shifting or cold shifting over 6,500rpm it would make a slight crunch into 3rd (that's GSR single synchros for you) so I became forgiving and accustomed to letting the revs drop before shifting on spirited runs. However, when I drove from Newcastle to Eastern Creek in February earlier this year for a few runs down the strip, it had no problem quick shifting above 6,500rpm - go figure!! Im pretty sure after the fluid/gearbox warmed up it shifted much better in the higher rpm range, but for the short trips and limited time Ive driven my car I've never really mucked around with changing from Castrol VMX-M. Perhaps a better quality fluid may provide different shift results at colder temps. The shift feel is nice and tight and direct, just like an OEM rebuilt box should be.

Let me know if you're interested either way.
