How many km's?
Can you find out the build date on the compliance plates please.
Has the gearbox been reco'd?
What turbo does it have and what boost has it been running?
Is it still running the std intercooler?
Is it the sump on it pressed steel or cast aluminium?

Weird coincedence, my wife was pestering me on the weekend to get her another one of these. We sold our old one 7 years ago.

I've sent him a message about some of your questions but I'll answer what I know.

How many km's? roughly 120,000km
Can you find out the build date on the compliance plates please.
Has the gearbox been reco'd? No
What turbo does it have and what boost has it been running? Stock turbo and I'm pretty sure stock boost, but will check.
Is it still running the std intercooler? yes
Is it the sump on it pressed steel or cast aluminium?

Best to give him a call and have a chat with him, he has always maintained it quite well and the interior is spotless. The only bad thing that I know whats wrong with it is that the wheel bearings will need replacing as it's starting to sound abit squeeky, but you get that with an old car. He has owned it for about 2 years, after selling me GSR70Y he went through boost withdrawl syndrome so he bought this car off a guy that lives around the corner from him.

He works night shift so please call at a decent hour, or just send him an SMS.

cheers,
Dave

I just got a message back, so to answer your other questions,

it was my first turbo and first AWD car :)

Same here but I don't miss fixing the bloody thing.
Likewise, sold mine two years ago and upgraded to the GSR. I don't miss working on the 323 either, how difficult was getting to that damn oil filter for services?!?

ooooh, bad memories floating back of hot oil dripping down my arm and burning my arm on the exhaust at the same time. And more bad memories of breaking the end of the crankshaft off at the keyway on 3 motors in 3 years (at least they didn't bend valves when they did that), and then there was reinstalling the power steering rack after having it recondiditoned and the one bolt that took an hour to do up cause you could only get it to turn one click on the ratchet at a time because of everything else in the friggin way (would have been easier to pull the motor out to do it).

And here I am considering getting another one, thats the power of the pussy for you.

God dam I need a drink. :D

Shame it doesn't still have the original stripes on it.

I don't think I can remember ever changing the oil on my 323 without getting my arm absolutely covered in oil, no matter how quickly I got that filter un-done, it still pissed out all over me!

Or taking the manifold off and again only being able to undo the bolts a half turn at a time and requiring me to make a special spanner in order to make the job easier! I still have that spanner too.

Never had a problem with my crankshaft, although knew a lot of people who did.

I honestly think that the stripes give it that retro look that I loved so much about the car, if I was going to ever purchase another it would need to have those stickers on before I'd even consider it.
