G'day all, just curious about something, i noticed on the firewall of my gsr, the chassis number starts with FSNCD5A

On the few occasions that i've seen the chassis numbers of other GSR's i'm sure they just started at CD5A and had no letters before it

Anyone know what these letters mean?

Thanks all :)

I just went out and checked mine.
I've got the same thing on the firewall of my GSR too,
Interested to know what it means, but my guess is it's
something trivial

aus cars have to have 17 numbers in the vin,

i think they added the bit at the front for aus cars

i just went n had a look at mine on the strut tower is JMFCC7S41RJ031777 which is the same as whats on the plate on the firewall.

but on the firewall near the plate JMFSNCD5ASU100254

whats the difference and is it aus delievered or what?

thanks

Weird mine just has the FSN first.....JMF on the VIN though

Ok to sum your query up guys....

this is it> all GSR's regardless to JDM or AUS delivery have that FSNCD5A****** or JMFSNCD5A****** japan body ID no's on the firewall with a coresponding plate located there too....

Aus spec cars have a additional number VIN no stamped on the passenger side strut tower eg: JMFCC7S41RJ031777 with a second matching plate also on the firewall for the compliancing of the vehicle here (ADR rules) and JAP spec ones either have a 6T no as a history/rebuild vehicle or a personal import yellow plate as the same as Evo's do...

you'll find the early series 1 GSR roughly 92- mid 94 will have FSNCD5A and series II late 94 -96 will have the JMFSNCD5A no: on the firewall....

For what reason this is I dont know, but Im pretty sure Ive got this right because I also compared this once before between a series 1 & II GSR....

Something I found out too recently is that if there is a 'P' in there somewhere it means the car came with an automatic transmission - just a bit of trivia for ya

Pretty sure the chassis no: on my GSR just starts with CD5A.

In fact heres a couple of pics from my Mirage - my GSR is identical to this (With the CD5A chassis number instead of course)
