the other day i was driving around a long left hander up a hill when the car started to jurk a bit i backed off and continued up the hill

Sounds like fuel surge to me. My old VR4 used to do that sometimes. Try keeping your tank over half or change your fuel pump. The ulimate answer is a surge tank. I think its easier just to keep your tank topped up, assuming it is fuel surge that is your issue. Time to Datalog.

I have run down to a quarter of a tank during tarmac events but have not had fuel surge problems yet (fingers crossed). But thats with a walbro pump.

i used to get this with my aspec, and when my verada is low on fuel when i turn left it cuts out nearly, i used to think it was fuel cut

could be a ton of things dude- has it done it since? how much fuel did you have in the tank?

there was over half a tank and i went up the same corner last night and nothing (more fuel this time)

kind of woried about this as i plan to race the car soon (stock fuel system) and i hope that it wont happen again

thanks for the info lads

What sort of racing do you have planned? If its circuit or hillclimbs, actually any form of racing you should probably invest in a surge tank. Ocassional off street drag racing you dont really need it, but if your throwing your car through corners and you are getting surge (if that is the problem) it would be a good idea to surge tank it up...... Good point about the fuel filter too. Change it over and see...

yep circuit and hillclimbs will cange the filter soon and how hard is it to fit a surge tank in the system as i have know idea how to do it

Ummmm...

They arent that hard to set up. More time consuming. Need to solid place to mount the surge tank to begin with. I'm sure there is a VFAQ on this subject. Baz......I'm sure he has done one of these in his VR4. Jstyle had one in his VR4 I think as well.. I'm not sure how well it would work with an intank fuel pump. You will need a secont fuel pump (and a fairly hefty one at that). Re route your fuel return line. Start off with your fuel filter and upgrade to a Walbro. If it still plays up, then start looking at your option a little more seriously... I did one when I was 18 (yikes, 12 years ago) in my old Escort. I do remember it being that hard..
