hey guys have a problem here atm with my fuel needle
long story short

i was painting the inside cluster silver when i bumped the needle to full. i had half a tank of fuel in the car. now the needle doesnt go below half tank when the fuel light is on but when i put fuel in it the needle goes right up too the stopper over full tank of fuel. works normally but doesnt go below half tank.

is there anyway of resetting the fuel needle???
can there be a problem with the needle or cog on the inside of the cluster????

regards
Grant

with the ignition on take the sender wire off the sender and the gauge will drop to its lowest point in "its" range.

remove the cluster.....gently pry the needle from the gauge and reattach in the empty position.

loosely refit the cluster and and ground the sender wire.....the gauge should go to full then , when you take the wire off grounding the gauge should read empty.

if it doesnt.........and gets stuck half way again. gauge is dicked

its on the standard cluster mate. i took the face off and moved the needle to empty but went straight back to full

well you could try unplugging from the harness at the back of the cluster but ............you need to ground the sender unit wire to see if it reads full and empty

You can try to unplug the gaz tank level sensor (located under the rear seat, passenger side, there is a black acces door with 4 screw)
start the car and wait until the gauge go to its empty position (half tank in your case). then stop car, remove cluster, replace needle and do reverse step.
