fuel pump replacement

Ok need to replace a fuel pump in an RVR

what is the easiest way in?

lancers are under the rear seat and are pretty easy and quick to do, never touched an RVR so thought I'd ask before removing most of the interior, then finding out it is in the glovebox?
(i know it isn't in the glovebox!) i checked!

any help would be great!

you have to remove the back seat and pull up the carpet,there is a panel behind the drivers seat it's under that.

Sorry to hijack the post, how do I identify what fuel pump I got? Is there any precautions before removing the pump such as disconnect the battery?

Last few times i've done them, D/c the battery, disconnect the harness that goes into the fuel pump section. Take the fuel cap off the filler on the outside of the car. Then undo the the screws to the casing, then there's all the little 8mm ( i think ) bolts holding the cradle in. Just be careful as shit lifting the whole thing out, as it contains the float for the fuel gauge.

and replace the big o ring when you put it all back together ( or put rubber sealer then on it. )

the main thing i wanted to know was how much to unbolt

to get to the pump.

I've done it now so all good! (for reference - remove back seat from rails 4 x 12mm bolts, then seat belt bolts from rail 2 x 19mm, then rails from floor 6 x 17mm then rool carpet back to front seats and oanel on drivers side)



pump was very nasty I dont know what has been run in the tank but it was brown and coated pump and cradle

pump was rusted so was guage reostat but I replaced it all and it is all good now

How can you tell a pump is normal? i wanted to get as much info before i pull it out tomorrow morning :lol:

there should be part numbers on the side

upgraded pumps eg: walbro will have something like walbro 255 something something

where stock pumps will probably only have a bosch part number
google will be able to tell you.
