Fuel pump whine

I've had a Bosch 044 external fuel pump fitted only a month ago and as of last night, it makes a loud whining noise continually. I had similar issues with the previous Bosch VL turbo pump that was installed but only in extremely hot weather. Fuel is never lower than 1/4 full in the tank so that shouldn't be the cause. Could there be a blockage somewhere or do I just have a faulty pump. Any help would be great.

044's make crazy noise. You can ususally hear them outside the car with everything shut.

More or less get used to it, sorry.

Mate of mine here has a rotor with the plates "OWNED" which has three 044's in the boot (over 450kw @ wheels)... you can hear it from ages away just from the pumps.

I have the same problem and am thinking about making a small box to go over it with some sound deadening material in the box!?

Well, it's literally about 10 times louder now than when it was first installed. I think I have to pull it out as it really doesn't sound normal to me. What's another thousand dollars....

sure its a genuine pump? mine been installed for a while now and still makes the same noise it did when first installed.

my 044 is really loud as well, after driving around for a few thousand kms i dont notice it, unless i consciously hear for it. in fact it weird not hearing the noise in other cars now.

I can hear my intank pumps from the drivers seat when the cars running. Can only imagine the racket externals would make.

Yep, it's genuine. It's not the kind of thing that I would be prepared to skimp on. I'll have my mechanic look at it in the next couple of weeks and hopefully he can also remedy the wiff of fuel fumes that I get every time I plant it around a corner.

Have you physically had a look it? The mount might have come loose or be vibrating.

Actually with that, what sort of mount are you using? One of those rubber lined ones to cut the noise?

i had to use one of the rubber band mounts and even mounted the pump mount to rubber blocks and it still bloody loud.

Yep mine is exactly the same. Sometimes it is louder than others - often dependant on heat i think. Not sure.
