I'm hoping one of you guys can fast track me . I've finally found a Sonata 2.4 G4CS block at my local pick a part.. The dilemma is, I've been searching for some time , and I cant seem to find a set of H ( or I ) beams to suit this 6 bolt Hyundai 2.4 crank. I'm going to need rods for this build. I either dont get replies to emails... or its " will do in sets of 10". Any leads out there to get this bottom end happening ?

I cant remember where i read it from, but you can use 63 rods but need custom piston because itll increase compression.
Who ever have built one correct me if im wrong

They are just 150mm 6bolt rods. Yours are as strong as vr4 1g rods
You can run a long rod setup with 6bolt 156mm rods and then you need the stroker pistons to match.

I went with Frankenstein 150mm rods 1g bigend and 2g small end.

Cheers, I was kind of hoping I could do the longer 156mm rod and have the piston with a short as possible compression height. Does Frankenstein do these hybrid longer rods ? Otherwise, apart from the bore size, there doesnt seem there would be any advantage running the G4CS combo with shorter 150mm rods, compared to a 4G63 block with the same 150mm rods ?

^^ and hopefully the owner hasn't been arrested for solicitation this week lol
And also be prepared to chase them a lot about any orders placed. They are pretty disorganized but seem to work ok once they realize that they will be chased up.

I used realstreetperformance. Excellent service. Just keep the parts and freight costs under $1k aussie.

My rods are manleys. I dont think manley do a 156mm Frankenstein rod, but someone does. I went for the 2g pistons because of the bigger gudgeon pins. The raised pin pistons are just stroker pistons. If putting 3g pistons in a 1g or 2g (6 bolt or 7bolt 1-3 evo) the small exhaust valve relief ends up under the bigger intake valves. This may bother you if you run a high lift stroker cam. You really need to check clearances anyway.
There is a heap of ways to build what you want. The manley catalog and wiseco catalogs are pretty detailhed

3rd gen 4g64 (magna block) is 6mm taller then a 3rd gen 4g63 (Evo block)..

3rd gen pistons can be used in 1st and 2nd gen, just turn the piston 180deg and get the g-pin machined to fit..

Are you sure jay? Why then are the 2.4 wiseco pistons raised pins to the height same as the strokers? Check the wiseco catalog.
You can turn the pistons if the gudgeon is not offset. If it is the pistons are going to rattle. Also some of the wiseco are asymmetrical

yep, I assembled TMAK's 4G64, deck was 6mm taller, associated plastics have a 6mm gap on the timing cover. both blocks are 3rd gens..

I did not buy the parts though, was only supplied with everything ready to assemble..

No worries. Thats why I tell guys to check themselves before buying bits.
I read it on a us site and thought it was bs, so I looked up the wiseco catalog to check... will have to look again.

Was there a 3g turbo 2.4 (evo?). I dont think in au, but dunno about other countries.

Yep. My bad. Sorry guys.
Wiseco catalog agrees with jay and lists the deck heights too
I must have been dreaming.

I do believe thats my 6 pack, jay. ;-)

Above post edited so I dont look like a dickhead...cept to moderators, but they know anyway.

Jack.. I was a bit tongue in cheek about my 7 bolt comments. Its just that they are very well supported !
Jayrome.. yeah, done all that sussing out with 7 bolt 4G64. Using a Magna block for a Evo8 build at the moment.
Baz .. stock 4G63 ? Doesnt seem easy to get a 156mm 6 bolt rod with a 2G 22mm gudgeon...
