hey guys,

im just wondering... what do you guys think about galvanising mild steel piping?

i'm considering doing it for my cooler pipes.... so that the inside and outside both get coated.

it would pretty much guarantee that they won't corode/rust.

might look a bit industrial though.

thoughts?

mat :)

You wouldn't need to coat the inside as its unlikely to corrode with the oil film that will develop after a few 1000km of use.

The outside could just be painted and that should stop that side from corroding.

I wouldnt do the inside either.
If the gal coating came off it would go into the motor.
Plus the oil film would stop the corrosion etc.

And youre right,it'd look industrial and perhaps harsh.
paint is the go, get some Wattyl killrust aluminium
I did my cooler in it,looks a treat.

it will rust mate, trust me..
when air is compressed, water will not..

think of an air compressor (u always have that water seperator)..
if ur blowing THAT much oil to coat the pipes, that would also be a problem!
why not chrome the thing?
