Gasket sealer

Hey guys

I'm sick of leaky gaskets and blowing them out. Just wanting to know what you use to seal your gaskets with. I use ultra copper and it dries out and blows out. Making it leak and blow out my gaskets, what gaskets too? Steel, 3 layer, standard gaskets.

On my paper gaskets I use rtv silicone sealer what you want is a non curing gasket sealer

Another vote for ultra black. works well on nearly anything. mind you not very good on a split in an exhaust helped me pass roady but haha

On all my turbo manifolds, turbo's and down pipes I linish both surfaces flat and smear a small amount of grease between the surfaces. start the car and let it idle for 15mins then go for a 20min easy drive. The grease turns to carbon an seals any imperfections. Never blow a gasket again.

Caged idea sounds pretty good, i use ultra Copper which is the highest temp. Although ive never let mine cure for long enough which couldn't help, but my vr4 is currently from the turbo back all apart, im sealing my turbo, dump and putting on my new stainless 3" and to let it cure for a couple of days. Hopefully no more leaks.

The copper stuff is fine. Just apply a general amount (couple if mm) and let it sit on the flange/gasket for 15 minutes. After sitting, it should be slightly cured and can be squashed. So by letting it dry slightly and tightening the nuts/bolts afterwards, your creating a nice thick sealing gasket. Don't rush and torque up the nuts/ bolts straight after application.

I use a multi-layer steel gasket for head to exhaust manifold and the exhaust manifold to T3/4 turbine flange.
From the turbine back all surfaces have been linished flat and bolted together with no gaskets!! (see 'caged' response above).
Apart from that using the gaskets that came with my Xforce muffler and Tial 46mm external wastegate.
For other jobs around the engine, I usually get a hold of the OEM/aftermarket gasket, spray it with a light coat of Hylomar on both sides, then fit it when both sides are tacky.
But as far as a gasket sealer goes for things such as the sump, gearboxes and diffs go, I refuse to use anything other than Threebond RTV Hi-temp Super Sealer. It doesnt harden or vibrate loose or fall out over time. It stretches liike a condom when dry and is the best product Ive used so far for those things.
