Does anyone know if you can get hold of the Gates Racing belts, like the ones you always see on e-bay etc for the 4G63T, but for a 4G93T?

The Gates Australia Online catalogue shows these under "Timing Belts"

1992-96 1.8L 4 Cyl. DOHC Turbo (4G93T-S4) T935R Gates Racing Belt Comp:HTN,Teeth:62,Width:19,Profile:T he
1992-96 1.8L 4 Cyl. DOHC Turbo (4G93T-S4) T168R Gates Racing Belt Comp:HSN,Teeth:107,Width:22,Profile:C

There seems to be a huge difference between the two, in terms of teeth, width, and profile.

How do I know which is the right one for the GSR?

Cheers

I've tried searching this forum for a part number for these, but can't find anything?

The Gates Australia part catalogue doesn't list anything for a CC Lancer GSR, but does have a listing for a Satria 1.8L

Would one of these fit a GSR '93T ?

T935....taken from nason parts website under 4G93T

Why not just use normal bosch/gates/dayco and save some coin? I saw a HKS belt last week that had cut the sewn section and allowed the belt to start seperating....Luckily it was only running poorly when it came in.

Cos I thought buying a Gates Racing spec one would help prevent exactly that sort of thing Jon!! :p

How long had the HKS belt been on the car for before it failed though? Have you ever seen a Gates one do that?

gates std are fine...use that and make it a part of the service routine to check the condition of all your belts

MITS genuine belts are made buy gates and there value parts range are made buy daco. Just stick with a stock one, personally i think the gates racing and hks etc etc belts are a waste of money. If you are worried just do periodic checks to make sure the belt is ok and not wearing abnormally...

No worries - Cheers guys

So the Meek timing belt kit for $200 would be a good buy?

Is it a good idea to change the tensioner at the same time?

I've felt the pain of having to rebuild a 4G63T in my old Cordia when the timimg belt tensioner failed, causing bent valves, etc
