Hi all,
Any of you know of any conversions or aftermaket ways of changing ratios in a aus cc GSR. Ideally want to convert to Evo RS spec but difficult to find let alone at a reasonable price, short of importing a whole car. From memory Gsr is 3.5, evo is 3.9 and rs is 4.1. Looking for somethin 4.1 up to 4.4 even. Also a heads up to any tricks involved would be great!

Thanks
Trev

what do you intend doing with the car?
i'd say a 4.4 if you could even get any would be unsuitable, the 3.909 should be the highest you would want to go,anymore than that would turn it into a car that would max out way too quick

edit-your avatar pic just loaded up for me so i assume its your rally car?
ignore what i just said then,i thought you were after it for a road car.

Yep rally car as you guessed. Im after quick accelleration up to about 120 and max out at 170-180 would be fine for most of the roads we use.
I know most wrx rally cars run a 4.4 final drive.

Standard a GSR rolls on 14" road tyres so with 15" rally tyres would be about same OD as 17"+ road tyres making already tall gearing way too tall.

So anyone got any tricks up their sleeves when it comes to playing with gearing in these???

I know you probably know this all ready but my what was a aussie spec GSR (now EVO but with GSR running gear)

All black stuff: I believe 3.5's finals on 205 50 16 gets about 245kph @ 7400 100kph = 2850rpm

I have a stroker in mine so I've gone to some trouble to modify the front LSD to be GSR ratios But i believe stock EVO is 3.9 which @ 100ks you would be doing about 3400rpm? and 4.44 you would be doing colse to 4000rpm if like you say it is a rally car then 4.4 would be the way to go.
I'm not sure but the Subaru 4.44 were j/spec RA models the Evos have something similar I think probably called an RA too?

The only thing would be replacment parts 3.9 EVO would be very easy to find should you need to replace where 4.4 might be a little harder to find.

As with the stroker I have no need to rev its' ring out so I went for the lower finals (just a bit of rooting around)

Give Andrew from CVAP a call or Email (don't PM) he will be able to give you more info on availablity and what ratios are what!
