Hey guys,

I just need a few questions answered before I start up the car and drive her. I have a AUS spec Galant and upon buying it, had to replace the gearbox after the gears wanted to see the outside world, and so with the rear diff.

Anyways I since purchased and installed, what I think is a JAP spec Galant box? On the gearbox it has a sticker showing that I am able to run either '2WD' or '4WD' and so the same with the transfer case. There isnt much difference in appearance apart from both having a 'link/plug' type thing on it..

Will this new gearbox be safe? I just don't want anything else going bang as I haven't even driven the bastard yet.

Definately will, it wont' hold as much power as a fulltime 4wd one, but it'll be fine to the 300kw mark.

You can also lock it into FWD by undoing a bolt on the transfer and another on the gearbox and sliding the locking pins out then doing the bolt back up.

Handy for 2wd dyno's and such.

Stupid mitsubishi sideways cross slanted bevel gear 90 degree pin shearing gearboxes....with too many bearings...and a bout 19 Diffs.

I shoulda bought a 180..and made it bomb.
180=0ne gearbox in the right direction and one diff and shaft. :( :(

ps.that will take an absolute hiding

That's becuase they break driveshafts instead (with enough power) and to fix that, you throw a GTR rear end in.

I'd still rather a vr4 anyday. :D
