Hey guys, I have a spare gearbox that shifted nice and all that prior to removal however I believe that at least on of thee bearings may have been faulty when it was re-built. No ones fault there.
Anyway, I was thinking of pulling it apart to teach myself some stuff and was wondering that if the bearings are stuffed, could I just go to an engineering shop with said bearings and they may have replacements? Not very specific question, I know and was intended that way.
Cheers guys.

They are pretty much all available from bearing shop except for the 1 genuine one.
The gsr fsm has the how to inspect and rebuild section, tho there is a few tricks.
I woukd suggest it will need input and inter shaft bearings minimum as you wont be able to shim it to your preloads.
Price the 4 bearings and see if the meek $400 kit seems good value then. Im not sure what is in that kit but it looks pretty good

Holy hell, you know I sell OEM parts and have no problems shipping them over right?? Pm me if you want pricing or if you need anything else for your transmission.

Twicks, mate I had no idea. Keep you in mind. Jack, thanks for the heads up mate, once I start to pull it apart I'll post up what I believe may be the issue, or send it Tim (brisvr4)....
Thanks a mint guys, much appreciated.

Well do your input and inter preloads as you pull it down. Then you will know if you need to order those bearings.
Check your clearance at the synchroes on each gear as well, and you will need a press and gear pullers.

Thats about all I know.

Fair enough Jack, it will be a learning experience at best, at worst I will lose even more hair!!!! Thanks guys

Though my shipping costs are higher (~$62.00USD to send the box from USA), for $401.76 USD (parts cost without shipping), you would also receive 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th gear needle bearings and the output shaft needle bearing. As well, all of mine are OEM Mitsubishi (seals and bearings).

If we are talking all shaft tapered roller bearings, front diff bearings and seals including my international shipping we are looking $20USD cheaper than the link shown.

Unfortunately, on the other hand, USD to AUD conversion rates put us around equal currently on these specific parts when comparing his 3rd party bearing and seal supplier vs. my OEM Mits parts.

No problem Tim, let me know when you need anything, I'm here. As an FYI for everyone looking for JDM or USDM parts the easiest way for me to get notifications is either PM here or directly emailing me at [email protected] and I can help out!

Thanks,

TMZ

My rebuild parts came from the states. Unfortunately they stopped in mexico for a week or so. Not the senders fault tho, and that is the only issue I ever have had ex usa.
Yeah sorry 'bout that Jack, It took longer to pack the drugs than anticipated. Thanks for that thou......

Ahhhh... Mexico, got it. Thanks for all the info guys. much appreciated and benny I'll be sure to catch you this arvo. Cheers guys and thanks again.

Hi guys, thanks for considering buying the bearing set from us at Meek Automotive. I appreciate that if you have the time and are prepared to take some risk, you may purchase these items cheaper from a international vendor. However, If you want them tomorrow we can make it happen *(Express Post areas only). If you don't want to risk them being lost or damaged in transit, you can come and pick them up. Most of the time these bearings are all aftermarket, but we only use comparable to OEM quality, unless Tim can tell us the OEM packaged NACHI, NTN, NSK or KOYO are made to a higher spec than what we supply. There is a very important reason why the price of our products is often higher than international vendors. Australians like to have jobs in the Wholesale, Warehousing, Distribution and Retail chain. This could be you, or a relative or neighbor. Nearly all of our products come from local suppliers, which means work for thousands of Australians indirectly involved from accountants to cleaners. If you devalue my efforts, you also devalue your own. Thanks again for your consideration.

Mr Gears... wow I haven't seen that username in a long time.
I still remember all the helpful tips you and Mike (blackvr) gave me when I was doing my gearbox five years ago.
If it wasn't for the advice from you two I'd probably still be trying to piece it together
In all seriousness though, I used to buy heaps of stuff through Meek and never had a bad experience. Always willing to chat your problem through on the phone. All round 10/10...and I think most guys know that Brett so no need to stress.
