Hi Guys - I have a VR4 engine in my cc lancer with the stocker 4G93 FWD gearbox on it. Recently it has become quite hard to get into 4th gear while at higer revs.. (starting to do it in 2nd a little as well)... Its not grinding or cruching just feels almost sticky and impossible to feel the clunk into gear you normally get.. At low revs around town its fine. What is the problem here... Is it a failing syncro - I though i would get a grinding if it was syncro. Or is it the selector fork - or something else (clutch not disengaging perhaps?)
Next part - what are my options for replacements or fixes... I don't want to go down the VR4 box path due to the requirement for 3 more custom engine mounts and new/custom subframe...
The options I know of are:
GSR Box locked to FWD - ok option but are the gsr boxes any stronger than the normal FWD ones...
EV0 1,2,3 box locked to FWD- better option but expensive - what can i expect to pay for one of these...
New/rebuilt stock box - i haven't had issues with the actual gears as yet with this box as my clutch is the weak point. how long could i expect the sycros and/or selector forks to last and has this got anything to do with the power of the engine?
Comments - solutions welcome - but please no smart arse remarks/attacks
