Hey guys,

Just been doing a bit of thinking lately about what I'm thinking of doing to the GSR after the wedding....

Have been thinking for a while now that the 'fake' EVO 3 kit is fine for what I wanted, as it wasn't a 'real' EVO so no point wasting money on the real panels, kit etc...

I have since been thinking that if I want to get the car looking clean and with good fitment, then perhaps it might be worth spending the time and money looking for genuine guards, bonnet, kit etc. I hear that the EVO 3 front bar is very hard to find, and pricey?

What do you guys think? Is the fake kit sufficient?

I have been slowly making a list of things that I want to do with the car, and I want to get it looking the way I want, then start looking at getting more power from it.

thoughts?

cheers.

Coming from someone that has hands on experience with fiberglass parts, genuine FTW always.

If its the evo 3 look you're after, genuine parts are the way to go.

You pay a premium for the perfect finish, fitment and durability.

If I could get a 'genuine' widebody kit for my car fk I would!

i say stay with the fake kit, it looks pretty much the same and fitment is fine on mine i have a gsr with a evo3 kit and everything lines up perfectly.

not worth the extra cash going genuine plus the fake kit is lighter. the money your are going to spend tracking down, shipping, fitting and painting the new kit could be better spent on other things.

I think you can go a fibreglass front bar but the lip might have to be genuine as the glass ones break like a kitkat,

genuine fitment is always neater though, the bonnet should be genuine as Ive seen the glass ones melt quite abit everything else go glass though, (side skirts, rear pods, rear spoiler)

Been there, done that.
Nothing can beat genuine panels. Quality and fitment is much much better.
Fibreglass is ok, as long as nothing touches it, because it crumbles quite easily. For a more premium look you cant go past genuine.
Yes, they are hard to find, but well worth the wait.

Finding genuine (good condition) panels will be the tough ask - and it will not be cheap.
Fenders - 400
Bonnet - 700
Front Bumper - 700
Sides - 250
Rear Pods - 200
+ painting.

How extensive was the evo conversion on your gsr? e.g. driveline etc?

Genuine front Bars new I dont think are any more than $650 last time I checked, actually it was prob cheaper, as the lip cost more than the bar lol

i have a fibreglass evo3 bonnet and its been on the car for at least 6yrs nothing has melted, fitment is good too.

Id say if depends on the builder, I used to work in fibre glass when I was at school with a friends dads business and we used to get alot of bad stuff that had to me redone, or the mold was used toomany times, and would warp

if I was still friends with him my evo would have been totally carbon fibre by now, he is still today the best builder Ive seen up to today

we had a fibre glass bonnet on one of our cars and in the end the vents started to crack and became flimsy.if your just gunna stay with the fibre glass body kit i sujest you to get the evo bonnet

iv also herd of cars getting defected for the bonnet being fibre glass too

Well fiberglass bonnets are illegal here in NSW, i dunno about other states

I had to remove mine off my wagon to get rego, then throw it back on...

Nothing is better than genuine kits, perfect fit.... i hate fiberglass panels, no matter who makes them they wont line up as good as genuine

Just get an EVO1 front bar and throw a GSR lip on it :) looks good and dont have the problem of snapping the splitter
