I've tryied looking, but there is no viewing port/hole in the chasis to get to the top of the fuel pump/tank, I want to change the pick-up to lower it as i cant take my car under 1/4 tank, The car has an aftermarket pump & the height hasnt been set right in the tank.
Is it true that you have to take the tank off the car to get to the top of the tank to get out the fuel pump cradle? :(

The fuel pump is easy to get to and change. The plate covering the pump is located under the back seat on the right hand side. I changed my pump in about 1 hour, and I had never done it before. You don't have to remove the fuel tank to get to the pump.

what quick silver said :)

theres two clips on the back seat around the bottom of the cushion park, just pull those two tabs and the rear seat comes off :)

I've done that, took out the back seat.
But there is no Viewing plate/hole for the fuel tank top.
There is a small one on the drivers side but it's only the size of maybe 50-60mm, no way big enough to get the cradle out.
I can see the fuel lines running past the hole, almost like it's not lined up with the top of the tank anyway. :?
My other cars i've owned they have been about 4-5 inch's big.
Any ideas?

I THINK it's a reshell, But it has all the EVO Feat such as the Elec areal in the rear panel & Not in the top of the windscreen, 180 speedo, Fold in mirrors, Rear wiper, Rear fog lamps, OEM Plastic E3 kit with intercooler waterspray (Switch near the Hand brake), Orange side indicators & Also has the "X" Brace behind the rear seat, Has the CE9A number on it. If it is a reshell then you wouldn't pick it, Recriprical redgo scheam (In VIC When i brought it) is what I've been told.

Maybe they didn't cut the access holes into the sheetmetal under the backseat when re-shelling it....

Might have to drop the whole rear diff assy to drop the tank :x

I've looked under the car & you wont have to drop out the rear assembly to take the tank out, I can see also the 2 metal fuel lines on top of the tank that have the hex nut to undo them, but theres no access hole in the floor pan. Is it just my car or what?

I dare say its your car. Possibly its evo gear in a normal lancer, or gsr shell. Obviously a pretty complete transfer.

Mine has access panels under the rear seat. One on the right, and one on the left.

DOH!!!! :(
I did a search on the topic, didn't fint much on it but looks like I'm not the only one with this problem.

You are lucky you have an inspection port - i had to take my fuel tank out to put mine in... Shitta of a job.

Hey lee

i have just done a complete evo3 conversion and put in a aftermarket fuel pump and took off the plate cover from the evo rear cut and transfered this to my executive shell which can only be placed in the right spot so we marked it then cut it out and now looks completly genuine    (well as close as we could)didnt take long but makes it so much easier now

It lets lee know he needs to take the tank out this time but then he should cut a hole and put the viewing plate in.

Arh, got ya mate.
Wounder why my car didn't have a viewing plate?
Someone just had a bad day at the factory & Didn't put one in.

Cheers for that.

If you bought the car from Martin, it doesnt have a viewing plate, because the car isnt a evolution shell.

(For the record, not knocking Martins work, I've seen it before and he does a great job. The viewing plate was probably just an oversight.)
