I am getting my license back today after losing it for a year but there's a catch. i can drive for 28 days and then lose my license again for 4 months (because i am on 18 demerit points) or basically drive normally for 2 years and not do anything wrong (if i get 1 point will lose license for 8 months). what would you do?

i feel for ya dude

i just got my license back wednesday after a 2 month suspension. NOw i have to be ap plater for a year before i go back to open and have only 4 points for the year

see southeast queensland thread

if i was you id enjoy the 28 days
but like ive been told "driving is a priveledge not a right "
take it easy then do the 4 months
8 months is just too long especially after just finishin s year
dam thats one helluva catch
and i thought queensland had a different rule for everyone

good luck man

The question should be answered by yourself.
Think about you're driving patterns on the road, and if you're confident you're not going to break the rules, the answer is obvious :)

What good would driving for 28 days do you, then have another 4 months off the road, when you could take the 2year option, drive normally and keep it?

Btw: If I had my way you'd never get it back... you must have been doing something very very stupid to lose it for 12months....

Far from it mate. Pobody's Nerfect. My point was that to lose your license for 12months means you were doing something a little more excessive than 5km/hr over the limit - which you can't really put down to a "momentary distraction" or "speedo error".....

im just saying people should never bag about stupid shit cos im SURE everyone has done something stupid before

aint that true... ^^^^ :)
I agree with getting an inconspicuous car. My daily to work and back is a white UF Nimbus 7-seater minivan. Why? because it doesnt attract a second look and its versatile for carrying people & parts :) Its actually grown on me, has aircon and all power options. I could get an RVR, but then I'd probably do stupid things like spend money on it to make it go harder :) Remove the car out of the equation and at least if you do end up doing something stupid you dont stand out likes dogs balls.

thanks for the advise guys. my other cars a vx crumodore, so i will drive that for a month, lose my license for 4 months and then get back in the vr4 with zero points. would hate to drive the vx for a year and let the vr4 sit there doing nothing again.

You might wanna check on that mate, pretty sure after the 4 months no licence you will still have the points, if you get done for anything straight after having your licence back you will most likely loose it again straight away, I was in the same situation as you once and I still had points after taking the 3 months no licence option.....

Commodore is to good for a daily, I know they seem like a shitter but unless it is fucked you can still hold one foot on each pedal and do a burn out,
Thats why I love my daily, shitty old Triton ute hasnt got enough power to do shit but it is the best, never been pulled over in it, drove through a roadworthy/booze bus set up on the freeway the other night with a blown headlight globe even...
