getting shifter cables out

hey guys

i need to get the old shifter cables out of my aspec, i have taken out the bolts that hold it to the firewall, but i can't work out how to get the funny clip thingys off the hold the cables in place...anyone done it and can give me some tips/pointers

not quite sure which clips you mean (it's dark out or i'd go examine mine) but if it's the ones i'm thinking of, I just grab them with some pliers and wiggle them side to side until they start to slide up and out.

the only way to get them out, wiggle them with plier....

I find it helps to stick your tongue out the side of your mouth, and screw your face up like your concentraiting really hard.
