I shouldn't sell the Vr4.

It's been on my mind for a while, I'm loosing interest because to get a decent amount of power (200+kw) a fair whack needs to be done compared to say a SR20DET.

Will a Meek Chip give better economy plus the extra power?

Will changing to a Excedy Sports Clutch get rid of that extra "throw" the pedal feel gives, as it makes for laggy take-offs.

Evo 0 4g63 inc
Small16G
510cc
3" Exhaust
Cooler
Eboost (7 + 17psi)

1) There's no reason why you can't get close to 200kw- small 16g's are rated similar to T28's. Chip will net you a better increase

2) Get rid of those ugly bumpers and you might have a car that looks half decent which will make you want to keep it

3) When was the last time you got pulled over by the cops in a VR4 compared to the amount of times in a car with an SR20 in it?

My sister owns a gtir and i compare cars all the time and my car aint far of from keeping up with my sisters, i dont just mean raceing, i mean overall, mine doesnt even have bigger injectors nor fuel pump, also the gtir is the only sr20det which is awd the rest are rwd so its amatter if you want to change to awd or rwd. galants are unique on there own and there are no where near as many as there are s13, gtir, s14 and s15's on the roads, and for the front and rear bars the only reason i would change em is to make the car lighter....
I definately reckon a clutch change would make the world of difference as thats the only thing my car needs to get it running harder.
Have u got the car tuned at all?
Also the 16g's are abit laggier at take off to say in comparison to a t28 also in comparison to a 14b.

Its easy enough and cheap enought to make 200kw atw in a VR4 man, what are you talking about??? lol
Its the 1400kg+ weight of the VR4 which lets it down.

I actually like the aus-spec bumpers.

Thats exactly what I hate about the VR4, the weight, but it's the comfiest car I've owned to date.

Oh and no the car is not tuned, With new fuel pump and meek chip is 200awkw achievable or do I really need the 609?

Why the magical 200 kw atw figure?
Bragging rights?

i don't know

my car is plenty quick enough with 160 atw - quick enough to upset Ego 9 owners

200kw at all four... compared to 200 at the rears of a silvia which is what id assume u would go for....

200kw at all four is more like 300 at the rears of a silvia... sooo why bother its not hard to make 200kw at all four... its hard to make it if you arent willing to spend some cash.

id buy a proper ECU Autronic or something similar... id get a big 16g and high flow it.. or something bigger.. bigger injectors bigger fuel pump a good exhaust and exhaust manifold feed it like 22psi and ud have 200+

chuck in some Cams and head studs and it will last a long time...

all costs money man if you arent willing to splash the cash ur in the wrong field sure u "CAN" do it on the cheap but it wont last.

Cheers Grant.

to say you want a nissan over a mitsu and say its cheaper to get 200 kws out of a sr20 then thats the biggest joke anyones heard. soz for rant but everyone knows the 63t is the cheapest engine to mod for power.. you just forgot we lose 40 percent or so through our driveliene

200rwkw is achievable with ecu/injectors/pump/cooler/exhaust + 14psi (t28) as my mate has acheieved this in his 180sx.

I wasn't saying I wanted a Nissan but using it as and example.

My VR4 with only a Gt pumps mani, Big 16g, 650's, 255 and a mofo rich tune with a Wolf 3d on 19psi made 204kw atw and that was with a 2 1/4" cat back! With a 20g, better tune and 21psi I would have seen about 225kw atw.
200kw atw is quite easy, you just have to be smart with your mod path. I also had ARP's throughout, forged rebuild, 6.5 cooler and custom piping. These mods don't create power, but I chose to do them to make the engine as reliable as possible.
Not to mention I didn't look like the 5 million other young guys driving 180's and 200's.

No, it won't take you longer...

It'll just last less time.

Also, 200kw in a GVR4 is like 280 in a s13/14/15. AWD Drivetrain afterall.

A GVR4 pushing 170-180ish will chew a porsche or just about any s13/14/15 especially in the 0-100 run. (rarely if ever will you go past 100 unless you like your car getting impounded)

Realistically I don't see where the issue is.

Standard recipe for success:

ECU Chip
550/650cc injectors
Walbro 255
Small/big 16g
GTPumps manifold
3inch exhaust
18 psi

= 180kw. Give or take.

When you learn how to drive that and it doesn't scare the shit out of you anymore, then look for more. Good luck!

you have to also accept that its an old car, and shit is bound to brake here and there. its no different to nissans of similar age; infact i would suspect you would have mkore problems with a silvia as its more likely the previous owner thrashed the shit out of it!

Both Bcnya and Brisvr4 have made more than 200kw atw with a chip and supporting mods.
Even with 140 kw atw in my car, I have traction problems in corners and don't have enough talent to get the best from it.

reasons
1. u already own the car
2. u r half way there with your mods already (maybe 3/4 there)
3. cops dont look twice
4. not a theft magnet
5. its comfy
6. whips V8s
