Hi guys, I recently purchased a Proton GTi ECU from a wreck for the Mrs car to run her 4G93P engine. Hooked it all up and I immediately noticed the car running a little rich and try as I may I couldnt figure out why the check engine light would intermittently turn on and off now and then. When the light came on the car would miss a bit like if you unplugged the AFM for a few seconds then it would come good again. Anyhow my Mrs took it to the auto eleccy to run diagnostics on it today and he told her that the ECU had been chipped to suit a turbocharged car

When I got home from work this afternoon I took the ECU out and it definitely had a Proton cover on it, but inside I immediately found a gold sticker on the chip with the words 'POWERCHIP" on it which makes it come from these guys:

Sorry about quality as all I have at the moment is the Mrs Nokia phone as my digicam died. Now whether or not the main board is from a GSR or GTi I have no idea without checking more numbers as it could be a chipped GSR ECU but had a Proton cover on it as a lot of guys with GTi's throw GSR 4G93T engines into them. The numbers inside the ECU where the ECU plugs go into are: E330T56173 (0812) (031). Is there any identifier that I should be looking for to help identify if its a chipped GSR ECU mainboard? thanks.

Woah! thats $990 worth of chip you got there

Does the ECU have a knock sensor board? Im fairly sure that this is a knock board, used on the turbocharged cars....

Nope, it doesnt have one of them but I've since been provided with pics of stock GSR ECU and the GSR ECU doesnt have one of those things you've circled either :?

Got a friend coming over on Saturday with another stock GTi/M21 ECU and we'll see if the check engine light error still occurs. If it does then chances are that this ECU is still good.
