GSR gto brake upgrade

Help Support 4GTuner:

Also where can you even find gto calipers doubt there would be many floating around?

Not meant to be a smartass comment but for real

I'm running the 315 discs behind 17" if I knew how to upload a photo I would post it but don't think I can using the iPhone, finerly got them on.

WWhat a funny man....Somehow you have it all wrong there!!
If you see the caliper in the photo you might notice its black as? Umm.....maybe that was from using the car on track flat out all day.Basically cooking the heap of shit-seals and all....You add up the price of new discs, calipers, pads and seal kit...
Now, given the option of this brake setup for cheaper than replacing twin pistons or just replacing twin pistons which at the time was more expensive- which might you choose???

The smarter option for me, was to upgrade...Quiet simple reasoning there I thought?!
Hardly see how the above constitutes the wank factor comments??
Lol....

Hey I can't talk - I went the full Brembo swap front and rear.... Mainly because the opportunity was there to get the parts cheap and I was looking for a new challenge.

I do reckon people don't give the stock EVO twin pistons a fair enough go though.

I got my GTO callipers from Trademe cost me $140ish posted for front an rears, (rears wont be used so could of saved a bit on postage there) my adaptors are just made of alloy cnc machined up, ill try get some pics up before a fit them.

I don't have the drawings but the engineer has them. There made from 12mm plate and have been laser cut. I told him to keep the drawing cos there might be few people that want them, they will cost around $150 for the both of them he told me. It cost me $600 to get them to design them and an extra $150 to put the cross threads through the discs

Maybe we could organise a group buy? I'm keen to get a set for my conversion too. My mate is taking forever to design and make some up for me!!!!

Are you in Gisbourne Victoria?

I'd be interested in ordering a set but they would have to made from hardened steel. I've heard some bad stories about the ali ones.
I was going to go Brembos too but I've seen first hand what they can do to Evo 3 uprights, not pretty, especially on a competition car.
I may go brembos on the rear though to get some cool hand-brake action happening

does $600 include VASS certification?

might be a bit late to chime in on this one but if you guys need cheaper engineering designs, i can help out. if enough people are interested in a group buy, i can whip up some drawings and provide load analyses to aid certification if required.

re: brembos - without seeing it, i'd assume the mounting points were unevenly loaded rather than the brembos being too much for the car. you could always use the e4-6 setup instead.

The guys that made them are acott race craft, they have done rollcages for v8 supercars and have recently done brake upgrades for a ralliart team so I'm sure there design is gonna hold together but anyone is free to source elsewhere, I'm happy with my setup

This may work to make adapter plates, 3rd gen Magnas/ Veradas ( TE,F,H,J,L,W) have the same bolt spacing on their calipers as that of the later Evos . I have seen a picture of an adapter plate that looked like the caliper mounting plate off a magna that had been cut out and drilled to suit smaller bolt spacing of the GSR/Evo1-3 to create an adapter plate for Evo brembos.

I hope that makes sense?

Cheers
Phil

Would love to see some pics...If your using iphone its easy as to upload pics.
Download photobucket from app store its free.
Setup your account, then upload pics from your phone to photobucket account....
Once that's done click on the photo you wish to upload and then tap the i button in corner of screen then tap on the Img code box and it will say link copied...
Then reply in this thread, select paste on the phone and past the img code into your post...Its that easy....

Sounds good to me. So who's keen for a group buy?
