i have everything

hey man, if u can wait till xmas i can give u the Turbo, the manifold, the exhaust, everything ul'll need.

just finished upgrading my td04 to a tdo5 14b off a galant.

binned the exaust housing and replaced with a e3 new copy with bigger waste gate flapper
used the tdo4 oil lines drilled out the turbo end of the oil lines to fit the bigger td05 banjo's and used the 14b dump but did 3hrs worth of porting to match the bigger e3 exh housing
you wont be able to use the lower heat sheild from the td04 btw,
also you will have to grind back the bolt casting on the dump to clear the oil filter hense why cant use the td04 lower heat shroud
you could cut the lower heat shroud where the grinded down casting is but I doubt you would be able to still get the oil filter in (unless you used a remote oil filter in that case you could use it)

doesnt come on a quick as the td04 but boost builds and keeps going never had the 04 into the redline befor but very easy with the 14b

I have a Meek/Spool chip running 450 injectors and RS maps

also milled out the exh manifold to 60 mm to match the exh housing and ported the runners

highly recomended

fogot to mension that you will need to redo your exhaust flange where it bolts to the turbo as the 14b dump has a different angle

all up was very happy with the result and a big thanks to Chris at Meek.com.au drive in and drive out inc exhuast change in one afternoon.

Pretty much what liberoz said, but i drilled out the cooling lines on the turbo side for the banjo bolts, and replaced the oil feed line with a steel braided high preassure line. also had to elongate the holes on the oil drain at turbo.
:D :D :D

cheers dave

hi i"m looking at doing the same conversion myself just wondering what boost would be comfortable to run i've heard running to much boost bends conrods on the 4g93's

with the old turbo had it set on .6 bar reason was knock count seemed anything above that would knock so found it to be a good setting for boost Vs Knock
havnt changed with the new set up will have to recharge the batteries for the data logger and start logging again and see weather it can be set higher safely as I set the amount of boost to the knock count.
on a stock set up internals wise isnt recomended to go above 14psi or you will be looking for one of your rods sticking its head out of the block.

hey guys thanx for that......it sounds like alot of work!!! a whole weekend maybe  cbf!!!! lol.....but anyways.....hey liberoz....just wondering how did u do ur porting? what did u use for that?

Manifold:had a local engineering shop throw it on a mill and milled out to 60mm curcumfrance did the porting after the mill work with a drill press and assorted bits bought from over the years finished the porting off with a dremel.

Dump: used assorted porting bits and the gasket as template took three hours but worth every bit that I gain if I had left it untouched.

greengsr I did it this way
bought another stock gsr mani & turbo which allowed me to do all the work on the turbo prior to fitting to the car, as its my daily driver and cant be without it for work now Im selling the my stock gsr manifold and turbo as a ready to install turbo set up mainly protons who buy them as it fits there 4g93p engine.

hey guys .............if u dont get the exhaust mani ported out to match the turbo, what would be the difference? it wouldnt lag more would it? wouldnt it be better to have it restrictd a bit?????? it makes sense to me......correct me if im wrong? :?

The more exhaust gasses flowing through the manifold and on to the exhaust wheel on your turbo, the faster and easier it will make it spin- therefore you will get less lag, and your turbo will work less to make the same power than it would if it was un-ported.......

so i should just spend the time just porting it out to 60 mm wit a die grinda b4 i bolt up the turbo........thatll make less lag yeh?

YES spend the time dude! /Story.....

I have just finished putting on a BIG 16g onto my 1.8 gsr with a vr4 dump pipe and 2nd gsr manifold all match ported to each other.

I did a little everyday in my lunch time with works die grinder :)
Little tip DONT use the metal bits as the cast just ate and chipped the bit away.

I went to supercheap and bought a 10 piece stone set $8-9 (white red grey bits) and i used the little white (round trapezoid shapped) bit and it just ate into the cast manifold like butter  PLUS who cares about a $8 stone set

Got the lines made up at gilbert group/enzed.

Only problem was trying to sort my outlet pipe from the td05 as the angle is slightly different and finding a TIG welder and someone to do it was hard. We dodgied up the pipe with flex joints and went to the drags that night after i pulled an all nighter(no sleep for 36 plus hours plus) and only ran .1 quicker :? Turns out someone on this forum from TSV  Didnt tighten the 2 outlet bolts enough PLUS the out pipe (J PIPE) was only really matching the compressor outlet in a small crescent moon shape(like half the flow   that was my fault  )

So finally this arvo the turbo swap is finally complete with the nice shiny pipework and some nice tig welds (and a ASS load more top end and i mean ass load pulls all the way to redline, with the boost only set to 10 PSI for starters tonight it slowly creaps to 12 psi after about 6-7K RPM), i am one happy camper :D

Moral of the story, always match port, do your own work where possible and reap the rewards of a job you( and some friends) did well done :D

NOW whens them drags on next. :?: .................... AND my chip RUSS  /story..........

jeff wont be a problem......... ............i want smokes!!!!!!!! bens goin down!!!!
