Guys, chasing some fuel settings for Platinum Sport 1000 (or E8), preferably for tuning with VE but injection time will be ok. Need Base fuel at 1000rpm and -70kPa, prime pulse (in millisecond) and % fuel correction for cold start at 20 degrees. I've got EVO9 base map from haltech and the VE tuning base map but they don't start the car (surprise surprise). Using 1050cc injectors from FIC with dead time settings out of the box. Fuel pressure 300kPa (43.5psi)
Also, how many turns from fully closed is BISS screw for an idle around 1000rpm?

Thats a lot of questions dude!!

are wanting to run it in VE or Ing Timing? because they are different!
are you running the standard colis with wasted spark?
have you set the injector values ie: CC's
as far as the biss screw is concerned you will set it up exactally as you would in a factory setup.
so follow the standard setup once you can get it fired up
is it a plug and play setup?

many many questions.
I could send you my map but im using seq injection, seq ignition, different TB 2200cc injectors, and E85 etc etc so it aint gona fire neither.

Start at the start! only activate the basic requirments. fuel ign trigger and maybe O2 forget idle to start with. just crack the throttle a bit with the stop screw to get you started.
dont forget to follow the instructions from haltech. for VE tuning and basic getting the car started.

use the diagnostics - are you getting a trigger output? or home output!
do you get spark at the plug?
are your injectors pulsing? pull out a plug and see if it is wet?
also check you have the correct injection firing angle should start at 455 ish (check dont play)
engage the zero throttle map in ign make them all 10 deg and from 700 down 17deg - this isn't optimal but still should let it run
set the TPS 0 - 100%
like i said do the basics first.

if you have no luck send me a copy of your map and i'll have a quick look. VE is pretty easy to get started.

yeh I've done the basics - as per manual. It is a clean install, flying lead loom. wired up myself. tested and working. sensors all working. calibrated TPS. AEM AF ratio meter
strong spark, fuel pressure and fuel settings, plugs are wet - cranks 220rpm on display (trigger ok) - not starting though??
set-up is VE, sequential inj, direct fire 4 x LS2 coils (inbuilt igniters). ive set injection angle to 350 degrees (same as EVO9)
injector voltage compensation map done
just trying to take some guess work out of the fuel compensation (cold start) during starting on a new motor.
i'm currently at 25ms prime pulse at 20 degrees, 50% fuel base (VE) at 1000rpm and 45% overall trim but nothing yet.

weird thing is that I haven't been able to check timing because the timing gun doesn't light up - works fine on my other car. but when i pull the lead there is a strong spark!
it is a really expensive workshop gun too. mechanic neighbour is baffled too.
for the meantime i have set CAS right in the middle as ballpark until I get a new gun tomorrow

i'll give it another go tomorrow and if no good i'll get maps together and send through to you tomorrow - see what you think?

cheers

check that the cas is not 180deg out
does it back fire back into the plenum?

you will need a lead from plug to COP coil to get a decent reading on the timing light, unless it is one of the special ones that can read the EMF from the std wires to the coil pack.

Im sure my injector phasing is like 455 at idle say 16Ih/mg at 1000rpm
the other option is call haltech ask from Matt send him via email your map he will have a play and send it back, guesses are it will fire.

Also check the plugs? are they wet?

You love answering these sorts of questions dont you Troy? lol :p [back at ya man].
you know, I had a similar problem and was scratching my head for ages as I also had spark and fuel and everything else checked out OK... but it just wouldnt start!!
Then I found out I accidentally had the firing order backwards between the 4 x individual coils and spark plug leads,
It was a real blonde moment as it was something so simple that obvously didnt click at the time - Hey, it happens sometimes lol.
Double check your ignition plugs go to the right coil that the leads match up to for the correct firing order to :)

ok thanks for the tips - I just got it started 30 mins ago, farkign miracle !!!!

well I was convinced I had wired it up right, put CAS in correctly and set up Ign/trigger etc right. I rang scott at haltech today and this is what got it going:

trigger angle 78 degrees (instead of 70)
trigger/home edge - rising
increased prime and cold start fuel alot

VE at 1200rpm idle is really low - 10-15%. Base maps use default of around 50. That's with fuel pressure spot on 300kPa (~43psi). I'm using these new FIC 1050cc injectors with an improved spray pattern. Dead time settings from the printed sheet out of the box. Weird?

It fired up straight away. Glad I've got some oil in the bottom end bearings now. No leaks... yet

Off to get it tuned next week - fingers crossed

Thats the beauty of Haltech's. You can ring the guys up in Sydney and speak to one of the tech heads direct.
Glad you got it sorted :)

yeh me too! I love Haltech - tech support is second to none. Shame they aren't as popular considering all the features.

Rob or Troy did you tune VE? I am seeing 15% at idle with AFR stoich. - that's really low. only got FP2 cams/std head/std t/b with JMF intake man. 9.0:1 comp

Autronic was using VE yonks ago! ;p

Anybody have injection timing map or calculator for the average 4G??

I've got a 1G 4g63 Haltech base map with injection timing method if you want that. i used the prime pulse/cold start fuel settings from it to get mine started even though i wasn't using standard 450cc injectors (just extrapolated). worked a treat. I first used the generic VE base map but no luck. What was most significant from the 1G map was how much fuel it needed at cold start - like 80% (on top of base fuel at operating temp). i was trying to put in 45% and just died in the arse every time.

the world's first real-time PC programmble ECU was developed by..... you guessed it - Haltech ! ;) The rest are just sheep haha !!

my ve at idle is 55 but i push 80 at 15psi so i'm guessing at 25psi it will be 110 plus
if it is only 15 there is something wrong somewhere.
check your injectors are set at the correct CC's ie: if you are running e85 you will need to cc them down to 67%
you can then play with the dead time a bit too but best to just have the correct dead times.
