Plug and play loom would be the easiest.but be careful, because i got a plug and play loom with a haltech e6x off ebay. The setup off ebay was cheap but the plug and play loom was for a skyline rb20 motor, but i only wanted the main haltech plug as I already had a breakout loom at home.
The point of the story is that when i opened up the main plug of the breakout loom, only half of the wires are there. For example injectors were doubled up in batch fire mode so only three injector outputs were wired off the main plug for a 6cyl,and no wires for all the extra PWM outputs. These outputs can run anything from antilag to your thermofans and even boost control. But the wires arent there.
Maybe it was just this one that was like that and the E8 will probably have a better plug and play loom than the e6x ,but if you ever want to add on extra controls then it might be a problem with the plug and play loom.
So bottom line ,if your not electrically inclined then plug and play loom.if you want to add things later and really muck around then breakout loom.
as for the dash the vr4 temp guage comes in i think at the plug under the airflow meter as well as the oil light which is separate from the computer loom.tacho will still work as long as original ecu loom stays in the car.
