Hi guys, the simple tasks of changing the rear brake pads, has become an absolute nightmare!!!, but i am no stanger to this as changing rear pads on my E33 gsr was also a task. Can someone please tell if there is an easier way to do this without disconnecting the hand brake!!!,to swing the caliper up.I have to try and screw the piston back to clear the new pads, it doesn't seem to want to screw in anymore which is frustrating me!!!!, bleed nipple is loose!!!, can anyone tell me if there is a special tool to screw the piston back in, Please let me know some one, as your help help would be greatly appreciated!!

I just use a big set of multi grips to push the piston back in on my gsr, yoo shouldnt have to screw it in

the tool you use to change a wheel over on a grinder may work.
I have an adjustable one and thats what I use to wind the piston back for new pads

is the piston right back in the caliper?

Hi Guys, Thanks so much for reply and info, i managed to get the job done, but was quite hard.Unfortunitly the hand brake assemb, both under centre console and on the rear brake caliper, have to be disconnected every time i change my rear pads, which is a major design fault and quite frustrating!!, being a toyota guy, my previous SV21 camry never gave me these head aches when changing pads. The tool that is used for winding back the piston was the cube type, with a 3/8 drive. i found it only useful when the piston was only extended halfway, but because i had let my caliper run metal to metal, the piston was extended the full distance, in which made this cube type tool absolutly usless!!!, i had to end up sacrifising a pair of side cutters to the grinder, so that i could get some grip on the piston, so i only recommend the cube type tool when the piston is not full extended, all in all, this is the fun of DYI mechanical work.

+1

Sorry I didn't see your thread earlier.
It's a nightmare huh?
Good to hear you got it sorted. I persisted and got it done just like you lol

when i did mine the other week i just unbolted the hand brake from under the chassis and it gave me enough slack to pull the caliper away, also just used a g clamp to press the piston back in, just have to make sure ur brake fluid doesnt over flow when u do it
